As many of you know, the IHDG fundraising this year has included the New Arc animal rescue in Scotland this year ( Logo link at top of our website )
Recently we learned that they had been affected by a virus and were struggling with fundraising due to having to close to the public.
The classified section of this board had £500 revenue which was building for the very purpose of helping them out this year.
After a discussion with the team and Kelly, it was decided to send them this money immediately to help them out when the needed it most and the cheque was sent.
I am horrified to give you some worst news which i have just read on their own message board ( I hope that the lady concerned dosen't mind me copying and pasting here ? )
Please send them your messages of support at such a dreadful time. Pauline and Keith and their staff are the most wonderful hard working people who really don't deserve this bad luck. If there is anyone in Scotland who can think of any hands on ideas, please get in touch with them. Here is what the message reads........ ( Thanks guys )
Hi folks I wish I was posting better news and I've struggled for the past couple of hours on how to word this and there's clearly no easy way so here goes ...
I had an extremely frantic phone call from Pauline this morning that the house was on fire. I dropped everything I was doing and got over there as fast as I could to find the fire brigade packing up.
Pauline had gone into the house at approx 9.30am to get changed for work to be met by a mass of black smoke. After calling 999, she then called Keith to tell him that the house was on fire. They managed to get the terribly frightened cats and kittens out but heartbreakingly could not get into the office due to the smoke to save the birds, chincillas and chipmunks. Every single one of them is dead from smoke inhalation although I suspect that the stress probably got to them first Pauline and Keith are beyond gutted but there was absolutely NOTHING they could do for them.
Pauline and Keith are obviously traumatised and suffering from shock. The kitchen and office are just black holes, the fire brigade had to break the office window to get in, there's a hole in the office wall where the fire started and the floor boards on the landing and in Aaron's bedroom had to be ripped up to stop the fire from spreading upstairs. The whole house has smoke damage.
The insurance are willing to pay for a mobile home for them to continue to live on site but the earliest one can be supplied is Friday! I tried my hardest to get them to at least stay with me tonight but understandably they want to stay at home to be there for the rest of the animals. At the moment they at least have Ken and my camper to sleep, cook and get some much needed warmth in. They have no electricity other than a couple of emergency sockets that were installed this evening in the utility and front rooms and the water levels are running low. The estimated time to repair the house is 4-6 months. Thankfully Arron has somewhere to stay until Friday and April is living at work through the week and her lovely boss has told Pauline that she can stay there until there's something more suitable available at home.
Pauline, Keith and the kids really need our help more than any time right now guys! I'm sure there's much more that I should probably tell you but it's after 1am and after being over there for the large majority of the day, I need to try and get some sleep ... though I feel tremendously guilty having a proper bed to sleep in while Pauline and Keith are in our camper on this frosty night.
They obviously have no internet access at the moment and only contact is via mobile although you are more than welcome to call me on 07790 955338 if you need more info as they're finding it very hard to speak right now. They also have an awful lot of work to do tomorrow including the tragic task of clearing out the office. If anyone can do ANYTHING to help, please do as I know they'll appreciate it greatly. I'm starting to waffle now as I'm exhausted but I'll check in tomorrow to answer anything I can if needed.
Hugs to all - especially Pauline, Keith and their family
