Oh, I'm dead envious. I LOVED riding side saddle--far more sensible. I'm sure my own ned would take to it--it's just that proper old sidesaddles just aren't QH shaped and the cheaper new imported ones are a bit of a risk really. Wish I could get one custom made for him

O so I was right then ! We do the uni comps from my yard - Lancaster uni - are you in the same group as them -I'm thinking not as if I remember it goes more to Manchester way . My youngest is in Leeds but at Leeds Met where they dont have a riding club I believe. She lives in Headingley.

hey cubic, if you are in Leeds you could come and teach Lloyd to carry side saddle!!! I would absolutly love to try, and am going either in Jan or Feb for a lesson at Acre Cliffe in Otley for a lesson.

It's probably good for a taster of side saddle, but I wouldn't want to go there regularly

My youngest is in Leeds but at Leeds Met where they dont have a riding club I believe. She lives in Headingley. I'm in Headingly too, when I'm at uni (the centre of the Leeds Student world!) I've competed against someone from Lancaster at regionals, but not at league level. It's a shame Leeds Met don't set up their own club. I'm always getting emails from people from there wanting to ride with us, but unfortunately our insurance won't cover people who aren't from Leeds uni.

I only tend to ride sidesaddle in the spring and summer (partly to stop it getting soaked), so when I start up again it's mainly short hacks (getting longer) to get his back used to it again. Schooling is really hard work, so I tend to just do a few sessions before a show, wereas hacking you just get used to riding like that without so much effort!

What lovely horses. I think my fave has got to be Mel the connie. I do like connemaras and he looks rather like my daughter's. I take it that Wildrover was admiring the gent on Percy - Yeah?
