Well, still getting the hang of this. Phil seems to know all about this format and is going to initiate me into Avitars (spl) etc. He just said 'Oh you are using quick reply' (I thought that was what you had to use!) and is going to explain what I can do with ordinary reply.?! I was having trouble with looking back at other pages in a new Firefox tab as it wont do it from the page thing - but I have discovered will do it from the black arrows. You will know what I mean tl - think you others use Explorer which cant do tabs. Anyway, cracked that now and all fine.
Boring day today as I really had to attack the house bigtime. We seem to have so many spiders that the place can look like a set from Hammer House of Horrors in a couple of days. OH says he will come out with me in a mo to walk M round a bit. OH isnt usually that into cricket but he is currently glued to us v Oz, so am not holding my breath this will happen soon.
Having to be brief with the personals so hope I dont miss anyone. Phil is hassling me for the 'puter now he is back from work.
Hello Wills (did I miss you joining us when I was on hols??!! too many posts to go back and read then & cant now) and Napster.
Aberlemno - hope stripy horse is okay (see- you too can have a horse with a pseudonym, lol) Hadnt seen The Mummy before - not as good as Indiana Jones coz no Harrison Ford - but quite entertaining. Any luck with the hay yet? I heard on a farming programme that they are predicting a shortage now as people will be feeding it earlier than usual they said.
Lynn - really hope we can meet up at emw's do as it should be good fun. Is your OH going to it as well, or is he leaving you to it and doing his own thing? My farrier is coming on Tuesday so I will get Phil to do some pics to post. Fingers crossed but all seems well, a couple of cracks here and there but a massive improvement on shod. I still havnt done much road work, but he is sound as a bell on our very dry and stony fields - no ouchy moments at all - and feels fine when I have ridden him in the fields.
tl - we might not like the new board as much, but have to say the picture posting is better - what a lovely view through the window of the ruined church - and so crisp and clear too. Hows the weather now, is it finally picking up?
Rosemary - I am going to ask Phil about these closed forum thingys, as agree with what you have said. I know that both he and daughter chat on things where you have to be invited to join in and its just their friends, but I'm not sure if thats just MSN or Messanger. Phil seems to have been appointed a moderator on one of his sites, and on that one there is a closed chat section for selected people only which cant be viewed by all and sundry. Will check. Good luck in the in-hand show!
emw - its allright for you with your computer literate OH. Little pictures, quotes, and BLUE writing - now thats just showing off - lol! Hope the demo day preparations are going well.
Guess what bird fans, we had a pair of Bee Eaters nesting this side of Hereford. They made a nest in a riverbank and were raising a brood of chicks. Twitchers came from far and wide and the RSPB were guarding. I just bought the local rag and a bl**** fox has evaded the RSPB patrol, dug into the bank and killed all the chicks just days before they were due to fledge. What a shame, we were going to go up to the viewing platform to see them next week. Good reason to bring back hunting IMO!
Well, we are off to Gatcombe International Horse Trials tomorrow, and I am really looking forward to it. We have gone virtually every year since it started, but missed last year as it clashed with one of M's few shows. The weather is predicted to be fine, and hopefully not too hot. It doesnt seem to be on TV as far as I can see. I'll do you a report like my Badminton one - hopefully with similar tales of missing traffic queues - lol! I'll think of you when I go by the Tingle Stone, and the other Standing Stone by Gatcombe's entrance (whose name currently escapes me) Aberlemno.

tl- what a view through the old church window ! I just want to step into the picture, out through the window and off up that mountain road. I`m sure there is a children`s story in that somewhere....
emw- So pleased the black pup is going to have a good life and be loved. It must be such a reward for you to see them find a home, however much you would secretly like them to stay.
Well - I`m fairly easy going about foxes but if one ate a Bee Eaters nest I might have to think again. I have seen Bee Eaters in the Med and they are stunning birds. Is global warming encouraging them further north?
Chris and Tim haven`t texted yet tonight, but as they were south of Bristol last night I expect they are over the Severn Bridge this evening. They have a long way to go but so far, so good.

Aberlemno..hope Fahlys leg mends soon..horses eh? Who would have them?!! How did the outing with the "girls" go? Yup..wedding is on just havent commited to a date yet! Most probably before the end of the year though..I also havent decided where! I think I just want to go ourselves somewhere and grab a couple of strangers and ask them to witness!! Definately dock clearing for your son..possibly a couple of barrows of poo?? Tam sounds a lovely individual girl..I realy like to see them express themselves and not follow in the fashion footsteps..also I have to admit I love the sound of blue hair..my niece had a lovely shade of blue for a while and it actually suited her and it was really nice..wasnt so keen on the red she chose after that but each to their own!
Rosemary I like the idea of a closed group for when things are really personal.
tl..what a lovely pic..but I had to chuckle..a long lie indeed!! Yes still no closer to discovering the cause of this for Armbro..did you know horses can actually sometime produce the toxins themselves??!! Once (if) he makes a proper recovery I am going to take him to a few in hand classes..what ones I dont know..but he is prettty stunning when he trots up and just has this thing about him that all eyes turn to look and admire..everyone falls in love with him. Hope your mobility improves tl..nothing too serious I hope.
Wills..glad you made it! How are things your end? Before the Summer well and truly end I am going to try my best to get over for a visit..how is everyone else?
EMW..aww hope it works out for wee Lexxy..sad for you to see her go but room for another to find its way to you. Oh I wish I had room for Eve and Noah..I look at these pleas for homes and pics of the poor things and it makes me so sad. Ooo I know the do or die moment only too well..and you kind of freeze for a second or two..brain in overdrive but not really coming up with anything except..drop the buckets and RUN!! lol I think its nice they were all in thug mode..to me that shows that they are all happy and can take the time out for a wee bit of horseplay (excuse the pun)..with no fear of reprisla. Oh I cant wait to meet up with everyone! How do you find the herbal wormers?
Jude..I hope we can meet too!! OH is coming..he is ok about trailing round horsey events..I think secretly he enjoys it! What a shame about the bee Eaters. You lucky thing..off to Gatcombe!! have a lovely day and a full report please!! Glad the feet seem to be holding up Jude..you are lucky to have a good supportive farier..sadly where I am they are few and far between..actually none!!
Ann NF..hope Chris and Tim are ok... how far have they travelled now? Gosh I am lucky to make it to the shop on a bike!!
Laura..hope your finger gets better soon...the things we do for these horses!! Gosh the demo day may well turn into a scary day meeting!!! lol
Off now to finish painting my bedroom!! I had Tiegan out last night doing some of the staining on the decking..what a lovely job she done..wee poppet! Speak later
Take care All LynnG x

well finger fresher so a little less "ouch" this morning ! We are herbal worming horses ...... I think EMW is homeopathic ..... and we get checks few times a year by sending to Gill at Westgate labs. So far ..... over a year now ... the two with med - high at changeover form chemical worrming come down to none seen / low ..... and the other two stay at none seen / low. We are very pleased with out regime. agree re the pic tl ............ what framing and clarity !!!! You sound busy Lynn with decorating ..... I love painting and decorating and do most of the diy jobs around the house .... I just wish I had more time in the day to do them ;D I hope fahlys leg gets better soon ........ these ggs !!!! Heyy Lynne .... if you bring OH and a "suitably qualified person " we could find you a few witnesses next weekend for an "away from it all" wedding surrounded by equines ;D ;D ;D well must get off and drag the hoover round before a bit more preparation for the weekend . The covers for the programmes are printed and been putting more ads in the middle pages ...... just getting a few more details to put in then print the middles !!! Then off up to the yard and some woodwork on then "bridge" and drive Taz round the course a few times ... see if she is feeling a little better today ...... (she having more pain than usual with her ovaries I think ..... been on devils claw for aweek now !!!). have a good day one and all

Oh dear, I just posted a long reply and had forgotten to Log In so it all got lost somewhere in cyberspace :0(
Chris and Tim got to a site just north of Monmouth last night , having travelled through Bristol and over the Severn Bridge yesterday. That must have been spectacular on a bike!
After speaking to Kelly , I have now started a thread on the IHDG Appeal section so that the boys can be retrospectively sponsored in aid of the 2005 DG appeal charity. If they get to Lands End in one piece then DG ers might like to send a small "Well Done" contribution to the appeal. It`s worth a try anyway.
I`m just off outside with fly spray and cream. I hope to take Ginger out for a ride later . Have a good day in the sunshine everyone.

;D Okay then, I'm out of the closet! First posted on here as "Shy New Reader" and the name just seemed to stick whilst I was on Scary Day (also whenever I posted under my own name things always seemed to stop, posts would go under and such like). Anyhow, can't figure how I can possibly get more than one name without having to keep remembering to be a guest for "Shy" and me as Esme, so I will be me again, hope you don't all mind.
Back from Cornwall and had a lovely time, some really good weather too although we did have a couple of claggy days, but they weren't cold so we managed to do things all the time. Daniel hadn't been since he was about 5 years old and is now 15 so thoroughly enjoyed revisiting everything, went rockpooling (caught a crab and put it back in a different pool), dug a sand boat with me and had our photos taken in it (dog as well), picnicked, went to Tintagel - ooh, all the holiday things, mainly chilled out and enjoyed each others company. Mind you 6 hours coming home in the car was a little telling - especially as Dan insisted on playing "I spy" for virtually the whole time, bless him!
Glad to see we are all making it across here, I had registered when this site first set up, but I wasn't expecting to come back and find the old DG gone! Very Scary moment that!!!! Still finding my way around this forum, I have a feeling that I'm missing a few of the posts as the date is backwards (or American) so thought I had read them all.
Rosemary Hannah and Jenna, sympathies with you for dealing with ex OH's, dealing with the one you're living with can be a strain at times can't it? Rosemary hang on to your fantasies for a while, don't shatter any illuisions - why do you think I refuse to date Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Mel Gibson (to name but a few)? It's because the fantasies are so good the reality might be a disappointment! Your widower does sound worth keeping an eye on for the future though, begin slow working on now and you can always guage the situation at your leisure then.
It was good to get back to the yard yesterday, I think my old chap had missed me a bit,he seemed pleased to see me - or was it the food bowl I was holding? They also had a small One Day Event happening, which my daughter took part in and then a barbeque afterwards which was fun, although I was so tired by the end of it all I was pleased to get home to bed. Daughter came 7th overall (she had a refusal in the Xcountry cos he was going too fast) and 2nd in the dressage section, so they were happy too.
Nice to be back, hopefully I will get some time on the PC this week as Daniel is doing some holiday work and as long as I pop on during the day he can then hog it all evening! Love to you all and hope you don't mind me being someone else only the same all along! xxx

Hi Esme - never guessed you were Shy! Many a good chat from the old days, she said, nostalgically....
Well, on the rare occasions when my path and the georgous widower's cross, I will remember to be my most engaging. It so happend that I meet him when I am wearing my professional hat (proper profession not cleaning!) so perhaps there is hope .... he is fairly lush. He once opened to door to me wearing a towle (on the way to a shower) and I just managed NOT to say: 'Is there room for both of us in there?!' which would have mortified. He is such a numpty that he would never think of my little heart going pitter pat. Still, the very thought of the moment brings a soppy smile to my face.
Oh I would kill for a holiday! - of course it is like so many other pleasant day dreams for 'after the book' - and what with dress making and my various child-induced crises, the book is not managing to happen very much!
Took Mace out again and again he was a star - even when one of the newly repaired and modified wheels jammed and we had to manage the last few hundred yards with hideous squeals and a wheel that jammed and releases as though a break was going on and off. Never batted an eyelid, though the poor chap was alternatly straining every muscle and then finding his cart was shooting into the back of him. I really do think tl, that he has put the trauma on the beach behind him - after all there was no other vehicle involved, and it was not on a road.
Church (ex's OH is away this week!), horses, domestic economy - and it will be thrusday before I can really finish off the top - however it is all done but the hem and looking very good - not much resemblance to the origional pattern!

Hi everyone, apologies for the silence after my first posting but I've had the migraine from hell for most of this weekend and it still refuses to go away. Didn't feel up to riding this morning and took to my bed this afternoon which was a pain as it was a glorious day.
It is my OH's birthday this week and I'm wracking my brains as usual to decide what to get him, why are men so difficult to buy for?
Feeling a bit lost as to who you all are at the moment so please bear with me! Although I think I recognize a couple of you guys from New Rider. We certainly all get around don't we?! Hope everyone has a good week.

This is amazing, twice in one day. I was right, I had missed some posts on the next page, guess we'll all get the hang of it soon. Hi Wills, yes tis me in all my glory, still shy inside but with the Esme hat on I can pretend to be brave! Rosemary I wish I could have collected you for our holiday, it would have been lovely to natter over several cups of tea sitting in the window overlooking the beach - although then it wouldn't have been the same for Daniel, maybe he and George would have got on well? How old is George? (I have remembered the right name haven't I?) Glad you had a good outing with Mace, every good time gets it better and better doesn't it? Had a good hack this afternoon with a fairly newbie at our yard, she has only been riding for 7 months and has taken on an oldish mare on loan so we asked if they would like to join us as we don't do fast exciting hacks so not many people ride with us. We had a great time, she was very nervous but did really well and my Dunston was a star as usual. We had one hairy moment when heading home as a cyclist charged up a slope behind us, right up the little mares back end and she spooked, almost charging past us and my friend was so proud of herself that she didn't come off, stopped her and was still okay afterwards - then the silly girl said thank you to the cyclist! I put it down to shock as I was furious when he just continued on and wizzed between the two horses without a care in the world! She was shaking once we got home but still very proud of herself for coping and pleased with her lass for not doing anything worse as it was a bit scary as both horses don't like bikes coming up behind them so love and praise was showered on them from the doting mummy's! What book are you writing Rosemary? I did start one and really mean to get back to it, but it's so easy once the block has occured to go off and do other thngs and not make myself sit and get back to it. Hope you do get on better than me, then you can have that holiday!

Morning All
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSEMARY XXX
Wills..yes I do remember that..poor wee Apollo..it was so funny! I think he enjoyed having a teenager for a while too..he is a wee poppet (when he wants)..he was in with Ben and Armbro for a while because he is a bitty too porky..but we ended up having to seperate them as he we biting Armbro again!! Dusty if ine too..getting bigger by the day..she is bigger than Cracker now and is a bit of a Madam..but sweet with it! She has been long reigned and backed now..took it slowly with her but nothing fazed her..but now I have turned her away until the Spring when she is 4..will do a little more next year and turn her away again as I just feel with her bad start in life that I have to be very careful with her..she will still get lots of walks and some actual work in hand though. Ooo Ellie she is the comfiest bareback ride I have ever had..like an armchair! Next year I will bring her to your place and you can see for yourself!
Laura..I like your idea about a wedding with equine guest!! Worth thinking about for the future! Also Rosemary has kindly offered to drive us to church in Bute with her Jonesy..and make me a hat!! Hope Taz feels better soon..does she always have problems with her ovaries? I will need to pick brains regarding the herbal wormers. You ae busy..I hoope you find time to catch your breathe before the "event"..I am really looking forward to it.
Ann NF..I have lost count of the time I have forgotten to log in!! Glad Chris and Tim are ok..hope they dont run in to much bad weather..shall go and have a look at your other thread now.
Hi Esme..your holiday sounds great..glad you had a nice time..oh I know what you mean about I spy though...after an hour it becomes a little tedious..on a long night time journey I once cheated and used the letter D..nobody got it..it was Darkness!! lol Didnt go down too well with the kids but I enjojed myself!! Well Done to your daughter..she done really well didnt she..I'll bet she was pleased. I am trying to work out who you are..Dunston rings a bell so not sure if perhaps I have seen a pic of him on the old board? Glad your hack out ended on a good note when it could so so easily have been the other wayround..some cyclists are awful..and others are nice and considerate..but it is so annoying..sometimes I feel like just galloping after them and putting the FEAR in them!! Thats really nice that your friend enjoyed herself.its so nice to hear of the slightly nervous getting out and about and enjoying their horses.
Rosemary..temptation indeed! I am smiling too at the thought..agree with Esme ..take it at your leisure:) Sounds like Mace is coming on well then Rosemary..are the prospective buyers still interested? I do envy your dressmaking skills..replacing a button is too much for me..and as for the curtains which have hung in the living room for over a year..at least a foot too long..well..enough said!!!
Napster..aggh..a migraine..sympathies to you and hope you are feeling better today. Sorry no help on the OH pressie front..I have the same trouble!! I always try to find out if my OH wants anything in particular but he never does..so he gets the usual after shave..shirt..jumper etc!! I do spend hours trawling round the shops though..just incase I spot something else but I never do!! lol
Finally finished my bedroom..just the little finishing touches to do and new blinds to source. Even managed to lay the carpet..but truth be told..it was my 14 yo son who actually took charge of that..without him I would be buried alive under the blooming thing as it had a mind of its own!! We put up some new pictures and when doing so he got a bit annoyed at me as he likes perfectly straight..by this time I was tired and fed up and couldnt have cared less how they hung!! He said "Och just go away Mum..you do it all squint..dont forget my eyes are only 14 yours are older..I can see better!!" I did feel a little sad though...I realised my "baby" was growing up and in fact was more than capable of doing a mans job and is also very good at turning his hand to anything..he also built my new bed..he is a bit of a perfectionist though and best either left alone or allowed to take charge. Nor did I realise how strong he is..he flung that carpet around like it was a sheet of paper! Michael(19yo) did come to help but was sent out to walk the dog as Alfie said that he was better without him! Michael was secretly pleased to be sent off as he hates doing anything which in any way resembles hard work..he likes the easy jobs..he will tidy up after us etc. Oh was chuffed to bits as he had expected to have to do it all when he came home from work. Today I am going to make a start on Michaels room..which is long overdue. This is the room that OHs 2 boys were in and they have managed to break Michaels bed as well as breaking Alfies (he now has our old one)..also found one of Alfies golf clubs hidden under the bed and it had been snapped in two..dont know how they managed this or why..but Alfie worked and saved really hard for this set of clubs. Oh but Alfie is in trouble tonight..last night OH saw him from the bedroom window..handing out golf balls to all his friends..OHs golf balls!! But OH was sleeping before 10 so Alfie will not have to face his wrath until this evening..silly boy..he knows not to take that which does not belong to him. So it seems Alfie will be dipping into the piggy bank to replace any that are lost...rightly so.
Have a nice day one and all
LynnG X
