What an awful shock and such sad news. I always enjoyed reading Nikki's posts and her photos. It was always so clear how much she loved her horses and did her very best for them. I particularly remember following the story of her mare returned to the wild, a beautiful tale.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family and those who knew her and loved her here.

Words fail me.
Bless you Nikki and your beloved family.
I had intended to come and do the Transhumance one day with you guys.
I shall have to come back with better words when I can think straight.

So terribly sorry to hear such devastating news. I never met Nikki but loved reading her posts and you could sense her complete adoration of her horses. My deepest sympathies are extended to her entire family and horses.

Heavens this has shocked me to the core. It makes our petty squables pale into insignificance.
I enjoyed reading Nikki's threads so much, especially Iona's return to the wild. She will be very much missed. RIP Nikki
Love and thoughts to Justin and her daughter.

Such a sad and tragic loss to our community and to your family Justin. She was such a warm, open human being who shared her thoughts freely. An inspiration. I just wish I'd come and visited as she'd offered when I was in Italy in May. They say you never regret what you do, it's what you don't do that pains. Perhaps it's the way most of us would like to go; sudden, painless and in the arms of our loved ones - but NOT AT 52, that's just not bloody fair.......

Words fail me. What a complete shock. I did not know Nikki well but I loved reading her tails, I could imagine her mare running free....
My thoughts are with you and your daughter at this terrible time.
Rest in Peace Nikki...

Nikki was part of the fabric of this board, which is an important part of many of it's uesr's lives. It has meant a lot to me over the past couple of years. I have read, written, asked for info and criticised Nikki in the past and feel like she was part of the scheme of things on the IHDG. I am shocked and saddened. I only wish that those left behind have the ability to deal with their grief in as well as is humanly possible.
Good bye Nikki Three Cheers for all you have done

here is a poem i think she would like...
Do not Stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the sun that you see glow.
I am the birds in circled flight; I am the moon that shines so bright.
I am the twinkle in the sky at night; I am the rain that falls so light.
I am the gentle autumn breeze; I am the one, who now is free.
Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.

I am just totally stunned - she was a little younger than me.
Justin, be comforted by knowing how very much she loved you, and how much she loved her children. You were the world to her - the beloved horses and dogs were only ever second best to her, dearly as she loved them. What she would worry over worst now is what you will do without her.
I'll try to look back over some of the poetry threads and see what she posted there.
I am so so sorry that the world has lost somebody so kind and caring and vividly alive.
