when I say I don't do DO IT YOURSELF livery? I only do full livery where the horse is looked after for you - if you want to do more if you are around that is fine but the fees for full livery stay the same. Do you understand the above? Is it hard to understand that I won't "sublet a couple of stables and some grazing instead then" I hope it isn't just me, if it is ----- then how the hell do I make it clear that I do NOT do DIY livery. AGhhh

You just say yes of course you can rent a stable and grazing - it will cost you the same as full livery would

there is a couple living in view of our yard and land and we are nearer than their current livery yard. THey came to see us in the summer and I said I didn't do DIY. They were complaining ( not that much) that the arena there was rubbish and mostly flooded. It turns out that they only pay £15 per week! Thing is how could anyone afford a £20k arena when the liveries are paying £15!let alone the maintenance.
So they have rung( left a message) YET AGAIN today and wondered how much we would charge per week to sub let a couple of stables and grazing. this is now the 5th time!! It is a bit awkward as they are neighbours after all.
For me £35 or £40 pw ph is just not worth the extra maintenance and bills. aside from the privacy element. It is very different with FULL liveries.

Out of noseyness why dont you do anything other than full?
As for your neighbours, if they really arent getting the full livery idea tell them you are full/have a waiting list

Oh dear, they sound very pushy Amanda. Brow beating springs to mind. If I were them I'd come to you full livery for that price. It is worth it for the mucking out alone. ;D Mind you it would get a bit expensive for m lot.

Mandal - those prices are average round here for DIY without hay. THey ar ejust lucky theypay £15 - mind you if you saw the fences at teh place they are at at the moment - you would expect a vet bill to make up for it!
I charge £95 per week for full livery - extra for horse training / lessons etc. If you break it down say £40 for the hire of the box and grazing and use of all facilities then it is £55 for all the work - rugs, hoof conditioning, brushing off hoof picking, bring in and out etec etc - not the least CARE.

Like Amanda, we don't offer DIY at any price! Why not? Frankly, I can't bear seeing horses being fed ridiculous feeds or silly amounts, or stuffed up to the eyeballs with supplements that are completely unnecessary. Neither can I stand seeing horses with shoes hanging off because they can't afford the farrier every 5-6 weeks, or horses creeping around miserably because they are so footsore due to the owner being a barefoot fan, but not having the first idea as to what is involved in taking a horse barefoot. Neither can I stand seeing horses rugged up to the eyeballs and sweating, or shivering miserably because they "must shiver the weight off". Nor can I tolerate people who ignore every other horse on the yard except their own, and who think it is perfectly ok to feed their horse a titbit in the field without understanding that the others just might want to have one too, and who will walk past a horse that has a rug hanging off, or who looks poorly without a care in the world. Oh, and those who "can't get down tonight, can you just feed/bring in/skip out" And those who think there is nothing wrong in leaving their horse in a stable for 23 hours out of 24. Oh, and those people who come up and say "I don't want to cause any trouble but...." and who then tattle on about what people have said about other people or their horses, thus causing a major atmosphere. And this, my dears is just the tip of a *HUGE* iceberg of reasons why DIY is a DINoNo....
Control freak? You bet I am! ;D
