omg, that's really bad. Casper is in at the moment 27/7 due to Lami (apart from a leg stretch round the yard if he chooses) and that's bad enough for him. However obviously he has to due to the lami, but all the others are turned out all day.
I would love to see all horses out 24/7 year round with good grazing but I suppose its never going to happen for many of the reasons outlines above.
I really would move from that yard straight away as that much restricted turnout is just thoughtless and cruel

I would imagine getting planning permission for such an area would be very difficult for a lot of yards. Getting planning permission for anything horsey is like getting blood out of a stone round here

I have all my horses on 24/7 turnout only coming in for feed ect. This is the first year that my tb has lived out as i thought id try her as she looses quite alot of weight during the winter but this year she is thriving and seems to be coping so well and believe me we havnt got much grass at all. I feel because shes exersizing herself shes building up abit of a apitite and contantly grazing where as if she was in her stable most of the time she will just stand there bored and not eating. Im all for turning out as much as possible but i do understand that alot of people dont have that option. Mine do wait for the gate but i think its more they no im comming and when i put them out they do stand around but it dsnt take long to go and graze, i think this is more because they no im the hand that feeds so to speak
