Sick to death of this bloody weather now. This morning my road was so icy that I had to crawl the 20 meters from my house to the field on my hands and knees to feed the horses. I was going to bring Rocky in to his nice new stable for a bit but daren't walk him on the ice as its too risky. We did grit with the stuff the council left us but its mostly sand and doing nothing Anyone else really struggling?

Pants isn't it. Thankfully all our snow has gone now leaving the fields a mud bath Floyd and his mates haven't been ridden for 9 days now - 8 of those because there was ice everywhere then today, it's just peeing down with rain.

There's just ice here too. I can't even get to the car without falling over. The yard is the same and we're having to feed the horses in their fields as the track to the yard is an ice rink.

Just about to go out and brave it again. This morning I spent about 8 mins on my hands and knees in the middle of the road shouting, "help!" as both the wheel barrow and I started slowly slipping down the hill. Nobody came to my rescue cos they were all inside by the fire playing the wii. My husband thinks I'm demented.

Other than my road which is a 4 inch deep ice rink all the snow and ice has melted everywhere now. I managed a 20 minute ride in the field yesterday ;D but i forgot my head collar and today i appear to have lost my bridle i have search everywhere, i remember taking it off my cob in the field but i obviously didn't put it in the car So i rode him in a headcollar tonight but i think the clips were digging in his face as he took off bucking and only stopped when i grabbed his mane. So 3 minute ride today I hope your ice melts in tomorrows warmer weather as more snow forecast next week Oh and try putting loads of elastic bands around your shoes that does help a little bit with grip.

Well, I am seriously in danger of murdering my husband who is helping me out as my muscles are wrecked from the cold and work. The uncalled for 'advice' from this other wonderful but non-horsey man.... bed too deep, nets too full, horses don't need to be in, etc., and so on.... 'oh, it's not that I miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind doing it.' Argh..... pitchfork in the back is looking likely! I was taught by a grand dam of the BHS, I don't need a refresher from Mr. Suburbia in how to look after horses in rough weather. Ooooooooooooooh...............

My husband helped me do the water today, fair play to him. Yesterday I fell over pulling a sledge with a water container on it, he heard me swearing loudly and came to look over the hedge to see if I was okay. I cut my knuckles and hurt my bum too. I want to bring mine in to look after them too Kanga but reckon they are safer where they are. I like to think I'm independent and don't need him to help me, but I have to concede defeat in this weather. He does at least come and check I'm still alive if I take too long to feed them usually. Why is it that we are all more than happy to go to these extreme lengths to look after them I wonder?

my two are living out and seem happy as larry. come and root through the hay, paw it, dig in it and then wander off to see what they can find in the snow (well, the snow has gone now, but when we did have snow)
they are SO ungrateful, I don't know why we worry about them, I really dont

Yikes about the ice you guys! It's been so cold here until today we've no ice as no thawing has taken place just lots of lovely crunchy non slippy snow... providing you keep off the road that is! -9 here on Christmas Eve and even my house water was frozen on Christmas morning! Tea doesn't taste nice from melted snow and it takes blooming ages to melt a bucket of snow for the horses!! Luckily the yard tap came on yesterday afternoon. Water back on in the house this am but apart from this minor inconvenience I love the cold and snow. I'm NOT looking forward to the mud and rain and wind!!Yuk!!

The yard was like an ice rink this morning- managed to hay up and feed the horses - took at lot longer than usual as trying to stay upright ! Then spent some time spreading straw down to make tracks from the yard to the field and the lane making it a little safer for us humans to move around and a good way to keep warm. Conor, Harry and Badger who are in the field next to the yard kept looking over the gate whilst we had a coffee as if to say why aren't we going out to play - we are bored !! Glad they are not stick in a stable as at least they can move around the field as they are covered in crunchy snow rather than slippy. They looked cute as they had a little canter about in the snow kicking up their heels when breakfast was arriving

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah riding... remember riding? We used to get up across their backs, flap our legs and wander about a bit. Happy days.

I can't remember the last time I got to ride. I got a lovely newmarket exercise rug for my birthday on the 14th and I've been dying to try it out. Oh, well, spose it must thaw sometime...
