Bramble – Looking for a new home
Border terrier bitch, approx 2 years old.
Happy little dog, who will fit in with whatever plans you have – she loves to go out for walks, but also loves lounging around at home.
She is really good with cats, and other dogs, and fine with children & strangers. Not a nasty bone in her body, truly the sweetest tempered of dogs. You can do anything with her, and she will not object. During her time with us, she has never growled, snapped or shown a single moment of aggression.
She has just begun to learn to play, and is proving to be very playful, and loves to play with balls, and other dogs. She is a very agile little dog, and with training, might make a good mini agility dog – she can jump amazingly high, and loves to run with you.
Bramble has had a hard life in the past, and is still learning about life – her full background can be explained to any prospective owner. When she came to us, just before Christmas, she was not housetrained. She has really come on with this now, and as long as carefully supervised, or in a dog crate, is clean in the house. Her last accident was three weeks ago, and the one before that was three weeks previous too. There may be the odd accident to come, but we believe that total house clean is just around the corner if her new owners keep up as we have done – it may be that she will have no further accidents. She can hold it now for up to 7-8 hours or more.
She does get car sick, and would best suit a home where she would not have to do much travelling in the car. Because of her travel sickness, she does hate going in the car, and has to be carried there or she will not go.
Though Bramble is totally trustworthy with children, she would do better in a home with no small children. She finds small children very difficult to live alongside, because of their noise & their running around. She would be fine with older children who could understand that she gets worried by all this noise & running. She can be shy with strangers, but if they take time to let her sniff them, she is very accepting very quickly.
Bramble has no stock sense at all – she is NOT safe around horses or other stock. She is not intent on chasing them, she just has no concept that they are dangerous to her. She will stand underneath them, run behind them, brush against their legs – truly not idea of safety. She would do best therefore in a home where she will either not come into contact with stock, or where she will be kept on a lead around stock, and preferably where stock were dog friendly.
For all that Bramble is a terrier, she is not fond of being cold or wet, and likes to be kept rugged when out & about in this weather.
She does like to chew, and will pick up human things if they are left lying around, but isn’t destructive at all. Again, if observed, crated, and given her own things to chew, this isn’t a problem.
Bramble is obviously free to a good home, but all homes, if not known to us, will be vetted or must have references/recommendations.
