Hi guys update on peaches, she has settled in well as in a past post i am concerned with the bit she came with ( continental gag) was hoping to change it to a myer hanging cheek comfort mouth. but i have traced some of her history and think this may not be right for her.
pre 2004 driving pony (driving pony) drivign bit!!!!
owners 2004-2006 say she could be strong at times.
rider now a novice 13yr old although i teach him whenever he rides never left to his own devices ( i am a rusty BHSAI) Peaches is good he has hacked round farm on lead rein she was bit on her toes for a novice so i put the lead rein on. (just mum protecting son) son was fine. when riding in the field she tries to drag him back to the gate some times. What i am going to do while it is dry is fence a smaller area so she does not do it so much and it is safer also he never dismounts at the gate always somewhere else in the field so she does not assoicate gate and yard area with finishing work. ( learnt that at a kelly marks demo.
Advice please on bit. I am leaning to keeping to the same at the moment.

hmm hard to recommend without seeing ponio being ridden/ riding it myself!
but some food for thought, get something with full cheeks can help with inexperianced hands considder a lozenge/ french link snaffle type still a milder bit and my personal preferance over a "nutkracker" snaffle but could give that little extra stopping power!
Is it worth looking at noseband to? just to ensure the bit is being listened to? a drop or a flash maybe
