That was my childhood dream too! I wanted to find a pony that no-one else loved and we'd instantly become best friends and I'd never be without her. It never came true until 3 months ago when I gave up on Santa and went and got one myself Still, every time I see Ky I feel like a little girl who got her first pony! Your daughter is so lucky, you must take a photo when you tell her - I'll bet she has the biggest smile on her face for ages!

Gypsyroselee - my first pony was one that nobody loved. He only had one eye afer his owner hit him in the face for refusing a jump. She never returned to the pony, so yard owner had told my dad,if i could catch this pony, and paid half the outstanding rent owing on him, i could have him., I spent 3 months trying to catch him, and eventually caught him, spent hours grooming him etc, and stating i would love a pony like him. On xmas day,i arrived at the yard, and there he was, tinsel in mane etc..He was mine! We had to have his eye removed as the flies had eaten it away. He stayed with me for a further 30+yrs, He was 200% safe, and taught me, and my children to ride. He was one in a million. I finally lost him a few years ago, and was totally devastated. Now i am reliving it with my daughter having her first pony (see thread why do people do this). Its not been plain sailing getting this pony, but she is here now, and standing waiting for xmas day, to make my daughters dream come true! I have cameras at the ready, and tissues too. so you will be over loaded with them at some point on xmas day.. so keep watching lol xx

Babycham - I'm sobbing just reading that - both parts - your one-eyed pony and your daughters surprise! I've been following your other thread and everything you've been going through to set this up for your daughter. You sound just as excited as I bet she'll be when she finds out Have a lovely christmas, x

Oh that is so exciting babycham!! I worked at a riding school for many years and one of the owners brought their step daughter a pony for x-mas. All us yard girls dressed the pony and its stable up in tinsel on x-mas eve and were so excited for the little girl - she turned up, was very unimpressed by the pony and didn't spend more than 5 mins with it!! We were all gutted - any of us would have given our right arms for our own ponies at that age!!

I also remember one x-mas when I was very little - my sisters told me that a horsebox had pulled up on the driveway and that they had dropped my present off. I went rushing downstairs to find a hobby-horse on the front step. I had wanted a hobby-horse but I was also slightly disappointed that they had wound me up!!

Oh no! Did he put the food there to imply they would end up as dog food?!?!
I'm petrified of snakes, and one year my dad got me a packet of plastic cobra's. He thought I would find the funny side, but I spent 20 minutes in floods of tears!!

My grand daughter has already got her Christmas present her dream horse.
Back in the summer we learnt about a foal that had lost his mum. The mare (An Arab- unregistered) had been bought in very poor condition, but in foal. We believe that she was in foal to an Arab but not sure.
Anna spent time helping the owner to bottle feed the little chap and fell in love with him. When he was fully weaned from the bottle the owner asked me if I thought Anna would like him. He is now a strapping seven month old Chestnut colt.
Anna has always dreamed of having her own horse, she is 10 years old and has been riding my little Arab mare for the last three years. She would like to do some endurance so Solly (Mid-Summer Solo Surprise ,the colt) will be her future horse.
On Christmas Day Anna will get the rug that Solly needs.
Just watching them both playing in the field is my Christmas present, they have such a rapport with each other.

We told her Saturday, and she met her horse so now we don't have to keep whispering in corners. My dream was always a pony of my own. I never got one. I had to ride my mums TB instead, but I was grateful I had her.

What lovely stories! Completely out of the blue my grand-daughter is going to end up with a pony for Christmas! It has come about because I lost my 31 year old about 6 weeks ago, I then bought a very special part bred Arab Palomino filly foal, only problem is that the old boy could be left on his own, but I ride and lead the other two a lot and my friend and I compete them both at endurance. This means going away for a couple of days at a time or really long days, too long to leave filly in the stable. So suddenly I need a fourth horse! We decided on a Welsh Section A, unfortunately EMW don't have a ridden one at the moment and I want the grandchildren to be able to ride when they come to stay, they live in Wales so are not around that much. We have been lucky to find someone's project pony. He was bought outside the ring at Henley sales, very frightened by dealers. He is now four and has just been backed and is used to children, although still nervous of men untill he knows them. He has done lots of groundwork and longreining and I am light enough to do a small amount of ridden work to get him going. His owner is now sadly very badly affected by the credit crunch and just wants a good home for him. So he is coming on New Year's eve for 6 months loan and then to be reviewed, with an option to buy! I have just told my son and he will tell the children on Christmas day. He is 11.2, dapple grey with white socks, reminds me of my image of Merrylegs from Black Beauty!
