I guess its the old saying, innocent until proven guilty. I haven't watched the video. I think I get the gist. No it shouldn't happen ever, but it does. I just hope that even a little justice is done.

Well I for one hope that the "family" meet a horse lover up a dark alley one night! The smug looks on the daughters faces, how could they! This video breaks my heart, such suffering, there is NO excuse. Evil, vile, scum of the earth, rot in hell like your horses did!

I spoke to someone who works for the RSPCA on the phones she says that they are getting an increasing number of requests for help from people wanting to hand in horses they can no longer afford

My thoughts entirely. But that vid has gone a long way to colouring my judgment! Had I witnessed that I'd be first int he queue with a red hot poker! .....and worse. I can accept if you have livestock you will have deadstock, the more livestock you have you will have more deadstock.....but dear God burry them!

For the life of me I do not know how animal inspectors do their job, I really don't - I know I'd be up on a GBH charge or worse within a week. Terrible pictures, the worst thing is seeing their poor sad, confused faces. Bless them

There was a case near me, I got involved......I am still paying the price today.....It is strange how folk divided down the middle, those who backed me 100% and those who thought I should have kept my mouth shut! There were dead and starving ponies left to rot. I think it only got as far as the Scottish news. I had one or two phone calls telling me to "keep your mouth shut" I wish they hadn't have done that, because it made me shout louder ! I think they may have had one or two things to hide themselves!

I hope I am not guilty of burying my head in the sand but I am too frightened to watch the video for fear of what I see will be forever in my memory. I agree that the law does not allow the RSPCA to act swiftly enough to prevent this happening, and will watch the outcome of this trial with interest. I am concerned that the maximum sentences allowed will not be enough for these unspeakable people...

Couldnt see the video on that site but watched one on amershamhorses.com/ which I assume is the same one. Feel ill now at what those poor horses went through. Its hard to watch but I think people need to see what they did to ensure that it never happens again anywhere. Hope justice prevails & they get whats coming to them.

Vermin, that is what those people are. No real stockman would carry on like that.

From the video it appears many have or had strangles. Emaciation and contaminated water supply would have quickly weakened already compromised immune systems. the whole thing is sickening. This charity are daily inundated with requests to intake horses and ponies but by the same amount our funds are decreasing making intakes impossible to fund. Already we are having to dig deep into our own pockets to keep this charity afloat. the winter of early 2009 ahead will be one of the hardest, not only for humans and a failing economy, but also for animals to face. Our contacts at other charities are telling us exactly the same thing, lack of funds and no places available.

Its very upsetting but what worries me is it is obviously wrong but does not show evidence of cruelty or neglect because it is a snapshot in time.
Dead horses does not = neglect it equals dead horses Sick horses could be argued to be expected since he is picking up the unwanted strays of the horsey world. I have seen sick scouring horses in posh yards. Thin horses - they were thin when I picked em up Horses that appeared as if they needed putting down- but I was giving them a second chance of life etc etc. And rumours involving quads and landrovers- just rumours...sending horses for meat is emotive and people start rumours to try to stop it
Lets hope common sense wins in the end.

Tikkatonks.
I have to say I agree with you. I fully agree he is in breech of public health laws for leaving unburried animals about.
Justice must be done.
