I am currently feeding cal mag to 3 laminitis prone ponies and one very stressy mare. The ponies are doing fine but my mare is still very stressy so I was thinking of trying Mag ox for her.Does anybody know whether the mag ox is a lot better as a calmer and whether the extra expense is justified.I paid £7 for 20kgs of Cal mag,I belieive mag ox is nearer £100 for a £20 kg bag.

I have recently paid £7 for 20kgs of mag ox. I suppose it depends on what grade you're getting - this is from an agri-merchants .

I had to change one from cal mag to mag ox as it caused him digestive problems and therefore made him more upset. It was a great improvement. If you are only changing one why not just buy it by the kilo from Jackie Taylor. It is more expensive per kg but one kilo will last a horse a fair while and you will be able to see if it is worth the change.

From Tinknells in Wells! I asked for Cal Mag, explained what it was, then was given Mag Ox. It's white and more powdery, so mixed into the feed better.
Do you need some? I'm never going to get through all of this. Quite happy to split it with you.
