I am about 5"4, 9 stone and my favourite ride is my smallest pony Indie who is 13.2, and I do ride long! Flora is 14hh, Charlie is about 14.2 and Image is the biggest at 14.3 (although he isn't ridden!)

I have a 13hh welshXarab that i was given as he was unrideable for a child. I have had him a year now and had ridden him almost everyday for about 4 months before i was given him. He is more than capable of carrying me- in 5ft6 and 9 stone- he doent seem to be affected by my size when he is feeling quirky and wanting to gallop around the field. If I hadnt taken him he had a one way ticket to the glue factory. I now have a fab 6 year old pony ho i have started jumping. I have had smaller people ride him but he certainly knows the difference and will buck big time if a younger, lighter novice rider jabs him or hangs onto his mouth. Not all ponies are suitable for children. Welshies used to carry the farmers all day long up the hills- they are like mountain goats. Ponies arent made of glass- they can take more than we give them credit for. Im glad that despite the ' arent you a bit big for him' comments, I have perservered with my boy who is coming on leaps and bounds I often ask ppl at the yard who comment to offer their children as a jockey if they are that concerned for his welfare- shuts them up quickly. (he is a great lead rein pony by the way- he is a fairly normal yet quirky pony now) so stick with your ponies- yes we may not be able to enter many classes on them but hey- we have loadsa fun on our four legged furry friends and the ground is alot closer too!!!!!!

I am 26 years old and 5ft3 and weigh 8 stone. This is me on my little 11.3hh pony Fifi I have actually put her out on loan now but as you can see I was perfectly happy riding her. I did find jumping a little difficult though because I found it hard to balance on her but the rest of the time it was fine.

Aw that first pic is so romantic, Arabmare! I also want Fifi!! Looks like we're in good company. I own and ride a 12hh exmoor (in my avatar). We did our first pleasure ride last May and to say he was difficult to control was an understatement! I'm always being told he's too small for me by know-nothings, but if only they could see him when he gets his mission-head on! I'm 5'6", weigh about 9.5 stone (probably closer to 10 after Christmas...) and refuse to ride with short stirrups! I'm always thinking of getting a bigger horse, to do stuff with, but then I have a fun hack on the deer tracks in the woods (where bigger orses can't fit! ).

I'm another one!! I'm 28, 5'5" and around the 8 1/2 stone mark. I'm owned by a 14.2 1/2 PBA. And she's definitely a large pony rather than a small horse! Thankfully I don't come up against many comments but in the endurance and western spheres we're not actually that unusual!!

Always had ponies (I'm 5'3" and 8st 4) but when I lost my nerve it was difficult to find a good one that would look after me. If they are of that nature they are 'handed' down between families and friends and most of the quieter ones for sale are 'gentle giants'. Ponies are just that bit feistier.

I'm about 5"3 and weigh 8 1/2 stone. I have a14.2hh conne cross (see my sig for the grey pony) and have just bought a 13hh 3 1/2 yr old cremello gelding to back and bring on. All the horses in my sig (except the dapple grey jumping) are 14.2hh and under and I had all of them to sell last summer (apart from my grey who stayed and always will)!
