Thats it. I've had enough.
Posie is the horse in question. She is going to be loaned/sold asap. tonight if possible.
It hasn't been great from the beginning. We bought her formy sister rachel as her first pony, we knew she needed some work and stuff, and that she wasn't great to catch. but that was irelevent to us. we saw her, rode her on the lr a bit and bought her that day. wen't to pick her up about a month later and broke down on the motorway etc. probably a really bad sign!
well, she was hard to begin with. she was in a completely different place to the other two so we had to go to two different fields a day, however, I could catch her quite well, it only took about 15 mins and she was responding really well to the ground work i was doing. we put my sister on her (in a little paddock) and i led her a bit. then she went off lead rein for a little bit while i stood nearby. her face was a picture, she was really happy that this little pony (who she was riding bareback) was hers and doing what she wanted it to do (btw, rachel isn't a rider, she is quite nervous on horses and is v unbalanced and has no grip whatsoever) posie seemed really happy. then all of a sudden she ran off and dumped rachel in a bush! had no idea why. she attempted to buck my friend off and nearly threw me once too. I'd ridden her at walk, on my own, round the field bareback and she was ok, just v sensitive to the leg, a click with the toungue made her lunge forward, she was just v v v sensitive. one time she trotted off and tried to bronc me over her shoulder, into a fence. i managed to stay on, just. but she's always been funny.,
then another horse, jack, came to her field (owned by a friend) and we could never catch her from then on. she got into his paddock by jumping the 2ft (turned off) electric fence and we couldn't keep her in a separate paddock! she wouldn't be caught and all the work just went down the drain. If i tried to catch her then she'd jump fences, go under fences, gallop around like a looney and you couldn't contain her anywhere. she'd get out.
we eventually caught her to move her too bumblebarn, our new house and land. (she's been here two weeks on thursday) and put her in an adjoining paddock to our other two. by thursday evening she was in with them, after going under her fence.
she has been a little sh!t the whole time. the other day, deej got out as i was getting ebony out of their field to ride her, and i wasn't too worried, since he'd just stand there eating grass, i could tie ebony up and then get him back in. no probs. well. as the fence was off, posie broke it down (rammed the corner post) and hopped over the top. she was off. I managed to heard them into the orchard, then catch deej (my mum had caught ebony by then) and led deej up the field at a trot, posie followed, and we got them back in ok.
today however, I was going to get ebony out again, but deej and posie wanted out too, they thought it was good with all the grass yesterday so tried again. i led ebony up the field, hoping they'd get distracted by the hay, so that i could get out the gate safely. deej followed ebs straight away, but posie didn't. before i knew it, posie had rammed the gate again and was out! ebony got spooked and pulled the leadrein out of my hands, galloped through the fence and raced across the field, with (not on) electric fence wire across her chest! i was so scared she'd get it round a leg and break something! but she responded when i called to her and stopped. i caught her, then saw deej and posie grazing. if i tried to catch her (posie) then she'd jump over the fence into the stubble field and then she'd be away for good, so i took ebony through the gate to our 'front garden' (a patch of grass with a 24 yr old xmas tree in it) and shut the drive gates (the front garden is attached to the drive, and the garage. it also has my food shed in it.) then got a load of lucie nuts in a bucket (still holding ebs) and shook it until deej and posie came into the garden. then i let go of ebony and shut the gate the the field. they were contained in the garden. phew!
i put some hay out for them, posie wasn't v happy, she was eyeing up the 4ft fences, she's only 12.1, but i bet she could jump them, so i shooed her away and gave her some hay.
then mum dad and i (mum had just got back from picking something up and dad had been inside, he's completely unhorsey, so i knew i'd be better off on my own) had to detangle all the fencing and create new paddocks. it took ages, ebony had done loads of damage to the fencing when she galloped through it and posie had got it well knotted. the horses were still in the garden (which is small, around 15x35 metres not counting extra drive bit) and posie was still eyeing up the fences, deej and ebony were eating hay quite happily though.
we eventually got the paddocks sorted, and went to get the horses. i though i could catch posie (as she was in a smaller area) and maybe do some ground work with her or something) (my mum mentioned something to do with glue factorys )
so we split posie away from the others and put her in the drive and shut the gate (that we didn't think shut) she couldn't get out (we thought) because there was the gate to the private road, the fence to the rest of our garden, the front of our house and a garage. and the hedge to the orchard, which had a little bit where there was high chicken wire. i took the bucked of lucie nuts and went slowly towards posie who was standing by the chicken wire. then, really fast, she turned, and jumped the 3'3 high and 2' wide (its about 5' high, but bent over so wide too) chicken wire fence, from standing, on concrete, into the orchard and galloped into the field.
I have to say i said some rather rude swear words at this point.
well, i got deej on the leadrein and trotted him up the field, luckily posie followed him and i got them both in the paddock. that sounds easy, but it wasnt! then i got ebony up there. and electrified the three strands of 4'6 at its highest point electric fence with a brand new mosquito energiser and fully charged battery. let her get out of that!
so we've decided to sell her. I'm sure we could do stuff with her, but frankly, with coursework and my other horses, i don't have time. and there is no way rachel will ever get on her because i don't think she'll ever be suitable for her to ride.
So we might loan her, to a person who wants a project, or sell her as a project or companion. if you know anyone who would like her, let me know! (this isn't an ad tho)
Does anyone have any ideas on what i could do with her? maybe to get her ready for sale? I feel a bit mean selling her when we've only got her a few months ago but i just can't do it. I don't feel like i can, or even want, to work with her. I've never met a pony like her, one who doesn't want to be with me, or even come near me! its strange. and I don't like her, just like she doesn't like me. sorry if people think i'm a wuss or an idiot, but its how i feel, please don't jump down my throat for not giving her a chance, but she's had enough chances and i'm really fed up now.
i think I'll get a pic of her jumping 3 foot for her ad pic.
sorry about the long thread. just fed up with life at the mo. my sister is a crazy beast, my mum and dad don't think i do any work when i work my butt off all the time, even my cat hates me. I thought about jumping out of my window and ending it all. but then i remembered, we live in a bungalow! lol my window is 3ft off the ground!!! ha ha ha
just had to get all that off my chest. sorry if i said anything wrong.
