Good home wanted for next to nothing - Morayshire.
Anton is a lovely kind natured boy who is looking for someone that has the time to work with his issues and in so doing, have a lovely horse. He is very gentle, but due to poor treatment previously in his life, he is nervous. I have had him for 2 years. He is a lovely horse to ride - responsive to hand and leg, works in a nice outline with little effort, is balanced through turns and transitions and has done basic lateral work. He will happily pop small jumps, and is actually very nice to jump, but is spooky with fillers. He is good over natural fences, including ditches and water. He will hack out alone and in company, and is very good in open fields, does not get strong at all. I have only ever ridden him in a snaffle and cavesson noseband. From what history I know he spent most of his life as a Hunter, and was a Whipper In`s horse for 2 years. Understandibly, he is superb around Dogs, and for that matter, any other animals. He can be trusted with children around him. He is very good for the farrier. He is however, a rather nervous boy. I believe he has had a bad experience on the road as he is very nervous of traffic. He is ok with the odd car (and even tractors) providing they stop but he cannot handle traffic approaching him head on at speed. For this reason, he must go somewhere with no (or very very little) roadwork. He will spook at things but so long as he`s given time to have a look and not forced he is fine. He is claustrophobic which results in him being tentative to load. He will go in, but does need a bit of encouragement. I have used lunge lines with success - though if it`s rushed he does have it in him to rear (he has never reared with me on his back). He would get over this issue with a bit of time. I had him going in no trouble with a couple of hours work - what he needs is repetition of this. Once he`s on he`s fine and travels no problem. I have never tried him with a lorry. I have always had him live out 24/7. He is actually a very good do-er and wintered out last year in a lightweight rug with hardly any feed. He is fantastic with other horses, and funnily, loves little ponies!! He`s in with a 12hh at the moment (little and large!). I decided 4 months ago that I had done as much as I could with Anton. He was difficult to handle and headshy when I got him - I got him over this and got him going really nicely on the flat. My heart was set on Showjumping, something that he wasn`t really keen on doing, and I felt it would be right for him to go somewhere that he could have a quiet life - hacking, schooling and hopefully dressage. He has lovely paces and I feel he could do well at Dressage. Unfortunatley, I made the big mistake of sending him to a yard to be produced and sold on. This `producing` resulted in him being left unridden and unworked for 4 months. When someone did get on him, his nerves got the better of him and the rider fell. I don`t know exactly what he did. What I can honestly say is that he never ever did anything dangerous when I was riding him. I have also been told that during his time there he was seen to crib. I have yet to see him do this since he has returned home. This may have been due to the fact that he was stabled, I really don`t know. I do not have any tack for him now, and as such, will be unable to bring him back into work. I can however, email clips of him being ridden and jumped in the Summer by myself. He does not need a big strong rider, I`m 5`6" and weigh less than 10 stone. He just needs someone who is calm. I am looking for someone who has the time and patience to gain his trust and get him working again. He doesn`t have a bad bone in his body and doesn`t know how to be naughty. Any negative behaviour he shows is due to fear or nerves, and it even this had become rare before he went away. He seems none the worse for wear since he came back home though. All things considered, I am offering him to the right person for next to nothing. It`s more important that he goes to a good home. He has so much to give, and is a lovely horse to ride. An ideal project for someone. Please note, he does have white hair from a very old wire injury on his back leg. He is sound, insured, fully vaccinated, wormed and microchipped. He has had his teeth rasped regularly. If you are interested, please email me at suzysparkle@hotmail.com.
Come on ... anyone ready for a challenge??? ;D ;D
