If memory serves, yes to hairnet and it is a tie with a tweed jacket. Coloured tie - lots of people wear Pony Club ties, the white tie is show jumping. If you were to be strictly correct it should be brown boots and hat with tweed, but I don't think anyone does these days Have lots of fun - that is much more important than being 100% correct, so long as you are clean and tidy.

If you're over 16 you can wear blue with a cream stock. Otherwise wear tweed with a shirt and coloured tie or coloured stock.

Definitly wear a hair net, and keep a spare in case the first gets pulled off. You can wear tweed or black/navy jacket, but the latter should be with a stock, with tweed it doesn't matter much. Take gloves, if the reins get wet/sweaty you will either have no grip, or if they are rubber, etc. you will need protection for your hands.

youch yes gloves are important. My blisters when I didnt wear them omg ow ow ow. Also what bit are you riding it? Not that I necessarily saying whack a strong bit in any horse hunting, btw, but both my 2 who I took can do everything in a snaffle. XC, SJ, hack with others, sponsored rides. Never thought I would have a problem. Both first time I hunted them just could not stop. Complete deadness. Hunting is ridiculously exciting for them first time! Unless you know your horse has hunted you might want to try a stronger bit just in case Pelham with 2 reins is good, if you can hope with 2, then you dont have to use the stronger rein.

hiya all, thanks for so much advice, what a great forum. am going to wear gloves hairnet tweed jacket and coloured tie. my mare is regulally ridden in a pelham so that is what I'll be hunting with. mare is unshod and quite unfit so we are going to the met, showing her hounds, only following for a short way then going home to [ hopefully] end on a good note. [ if yesterdays hysterical hack was anything to go by it could be interesting]. then if all goes well I'll be going to a couple more meets which are local before end of season.

I had to grin at the Email I had from my friend who moved to Ireland, she said there was someone out with their local hunt, on Boxing Day, wearing a white shirt, with no tie or anything over the top and a ring in his eyebrow!
As long as you look smart, I don't think anyone will arrest you! When my black jacket was squishy, I wore my tweed one with a white stock and lived to tell the tale!
I'm glad you had a good time!
