My friend is thinking of buying a horse and here are his stats.. how much do you think would be acceptable?
16.1hh IdXTb, 15YO.
Dressage Prix St Georges, Evented to novice or medium level, 100% hack, 100% in all ways, complete schoolmaster.. can jump 5Ft from standing. no vices- a real gentleman, snaffle mouth.
Please??

If it's a dressage schoolmaster £7-20k depending on manners, competition results, suitability for young riders etc. I know it sounds a lot for a 15yo, but there are a lot of rich parents out there who'll pay for a schoolmaster for their children to get rise through the levels on.

No more than 5k I reckon, if he is all as advertised. He is 15 and being so good he has done alot and that may have caused wear and tear ont old joints. Remember try, try and try again before you make the plunge. Good luck to your friend.

Could be any price depending on his health, feet, joints. Could be 20 - 30k. Lots of people would pay that for a competaive schoolmaster - as long as he WAS a proper schoolmaster (many horses sold as "psg" or other level are nowhere near!

Depending on horses Affiliated BD record and points, also is he still competing at said level Dressage?? If all of the above was to my liking & the horse was sound with no major lumps or bumps i would be looking at around £8,500 maybe slightly more depending on the answers to the above.

I am not much of an expert, he sounds incredible and if he was younger I would imagine paying over 15k but seeing as he is not a younger horse I would guess around 8-12k but i am not an expert ;D

Hes no longer competing as they just went back to hacking him as the daughter went to Uni etc. However, he could easily win in a first outing.. its all in the bag so-to-speak. No particular lumps or bumps to speak of really. I suppose with his age he must have some arthritis but nothing was mentioned and they run him on a powder all the same. Health is all good (so it seems) and feet are typical TB but nothing shocking!

If he's not currently competing that will reduce his price considerably. It takes a lot of fittening and reminding work to get them back up to speed with the more advanced dressage movements, but he'd still be worth a fair bit.
