Just having read another thread, does anyone else have a horse that dunks its hay or haylage in its water? Lincoln does (there's always a load of haylage in his water trough), and a horse I had a number of years ago used to. Why do they do it?? (Is it just that they're greedy and stuffing their faces)

It might have been the 'Rain' thread you were reading about my cob dunking. I got him on loan in the summer, so obviously this is my first winter with him. He appears to get stable cough with ordinary hay out in the field, but, sensible creature that he is, he must have learned in the past to dunk his hay to help get rid of the dust.

My horse hasn't done this but he has used his dry hay to soak up his sloppy dinner after I've added too much water (bad mum I know!!).
