You may or may not know, that Luke and I joined up for the Vitex trial three years ago with Robert Eustace at the Laminitis Clinic. We had great results and followed the trial properly providing photos / blood results and the necessary data. I knew that they had started to write up the findings of the trial but just found it on their site. Guess who has his photo on there ?? Yes, my little Lukie, looking awful in his original (pre-trial ) photo and then later when he had been on Vitex for a while. He is the bay - the first in the group of photos. www.equilife.co.uk/Vitex.htm

He is sending you a hoof print right now Eileen ! Thanks Rach although i have to report that 4 years on from starting the trial, he is currently suffering from a bad bout of laminitis ! Instead of being totally vidulant in his day to day care, i changed his hay supply without thinking about it, and hey presto, my christmas present was a poorly pony ! I just sat and read what they said about the different ponies who were included in the trial and it looks as though Luke was the youngest at 14 ( well he was then ) Another point which i found quite sad, was that when i spoke to Sue at the clinic, she said that from the time that we all stopped recieving our free supplies of Vitex, only four owners had gone on to continue buying the supplies from them but more importantly, there are only four of us still sharing the info into the continued wellbeing ( or otherwise ) of our ponies.

Oooh thankyou very much Sir Luke :-) thats a shame if they are stopping having the vitex, how many took part in the trials Lorraine? is the vitex expensive? i suppose the ones who arent buying it cant really comment on their horses, well they can but maybe they have found something else that works? eileen xx

They started off with 120 apparantly Eileen.(Sadly some didn't survive the first year as they were 'last resort' cases. There are 4 of us still having the tests done and sending in the results etc. The vitex costs me £120 approx every four months but we all got it for free during the trial. I think its important for them to know what effect, if any, the vitex has on these ponies long into the future and of course, if the day comes where it is no longer effective, i can try convential drugs.
