Mmm - sounds like he's learned he can say 'no' to things he doesn't like, but there could be all sorts of explanations.
I'd be looking at feed (is he getting too much by way of 'energy'), work (is he getting enough work, or turnout), general handling (does anyone else handle him - i.e. is he on a livery yard?), how old is he?, what breed? what size?
What is his general temperament like - is he normally 'laidback'. Is your RA still working with you? What does she/he say?

my friend has a horse like this and I did post a thread about her a while ago.
I would look at the feed aswell, is your horse on haylage now or have you maintained the diet as it was before you bought him?
My friend introduced a calming feed supplement to her horses feed, had the teeth done, got vet to give the horse a once over and fingers crossed she's getting back to her laid back ways.
Her horse was lunging at people in the field with teeth and then swiftly turning to kick and wouldn't tollerate being touched although could be ridden exteemly well. She would not be groomed without biting and the farrier was definately a no go area.
