My mare has ripped all one side of her rug, and we don't know how either, and we want to buy her another one. she is a welsh cob, and the last rug I took her to a tack shop, and had it fitted, and it rubbed her both shoulders. I was thinking about a pleated type one maybe, as she has a high action when trotting around the field.

Weatherbeeta Combo, generously made but fit where they should, lining is quilted and silky so no rubs whatsoever, pleated at the shoulders as well

Warrior "Fal", really contoured yet loose fit, no rubbing, half neck, rip stop, stainer resistant outer, etc. etc. (I should be on commission LOL!). Can be used indoors or outdoors.
Get it from Derby House saddlery. They're priced up wrong at £65 in the store and in their catalogue when I got mine and still are (8 weeks later!!!!).

I love my Rhino rug. Fits my cob very well and withstands some rough playtime sessions from his friends!!

I will look in robinsons catalogue to see them, what you have put on here thanks, keep them coming, and around my local tac shops. I am writing them down.
