I have a Griffin Cob Saddle 17 1/2" extra wide. It is'nt the one with the Fish thing. Its a couple of years old, but is in really good condition and was restuffed a few months ago. I've give it a good clean today and its come up really nice. I havent got a clue what to ask for it, I think new ones are about £280 now. Can anyone give me an idea of a price.

Sorry to say it, but £100 if you're lucky.

I'd say £100 tops probably a bit less.

I bought a thorogood saddle from ebay, not sure which one it is! its nice and comfy, lightweight, no fish thingies and its old ish I think as its got 2 girth straps? £40 inc p+p.
unless its a wintec with a changeable gullet, synthetics tend to not go for much.

I parted with my old griffin for £80 a few years ago (I had problems with the fit on my mare, used it for 2 months and it had just been checked and restuffed by Thorowgood). I left it with the local tack shop priced at £100, but after 6 months it hadnt sold and there had been no offers!

Thanks. I know I wont get much for it. I would be happy with £100 for it.

I should put it on ebay like I did with mine. I also chucked in an old girth and numnah and leathers to bump it up a bit and still only got 90 quid!

I'd say nearer the £40-50 mark unfortunately. The fish system has been out for 4 years now on all Thorowgoods. We sold a brand new 17" Wide Griffin without fish but with full guarantee in July last year and got £110 for it. Today a 16" Wide older style Griffin has sold on eBay for £26. I really don't think you'll get near the £100 mark for it but you may be lucky.

Hi Rosie
Depending on how much you are prepared to sell it for, I might be interested as struggling to find a saddle to fit my wide, flat backed cob and have lost a fortune buying various saddles that have not been suitable.
Please let me know what you decide to do.
Many thanks
Fiona
