How is this for a bad end to a bad year? I get Lilly out this morning and she is hobbling in walk and reluctant to move. So the vet has just been out and she thinks it is her knee. She has chip fractures in the knee and was operated on 4 months ago. She is reluctant to bend it today so its worse than normal. She was never that lame in walk even when she first fractured it. Vet also dug about in the foot just in case there was pus and found a little bit of bruising but its probably not that causing the problem. So she now has a poultice on her foot as a precaution and is back on bute for her knee. I am so glad i am running out of time for anything else to go wrong this year!! I just hope she has not done anything stupid.

Oh Anna, i am so sorry to hear this. After all the worry of the swelling and infection, this has to happen. It might be that the bruising is a clue and hopefully when that subsides, the knee will improve ? Mind you, we are still on the time frame for our plan. Its still only 2007 as you say, so 2008 here we come !! Take care and give Lilly a big kiss from me.

Sorry to hear this Anna and hope that Lilly is okay soon. There isn't any possible chance it could be laminitis is there? It's just that there have been several cases in the last couple of weeks because of the weird weather we've been having, and the effect on the grass.

You have had some bad luck with Lilly, I do hope it is just an abscess and she is better soon.

Thanks everyone. I wish this bad luck would stop. I am really worried she has done something stupid and put her knee back a few months. Or even worse... Casper, i don't think it can be laminitis. She has been turned out but because she is in a small paddock (because of her knee) there really is hardly any grazing. She just has hay mostly. She had laminitis on one front foot last year (the other one) so i will keep an eye on it just incase it is. I hope it is just bruising or an abscess but i think it is her knee. She has been so reluctant to bend it today and pulls away when i try and pick her foot up. It is odd as there does not seem to be any swelling but she must have wrenched it and made it sore or something. 2008 has to be better doesn't it?
