I know I can email any number of feed companies for the answer, but I thought I'd ask my DG friends instead ... and the answer is bound to come a lot quicker! ;D

There isn't--it's the residue left after the sample has been incinerated. It's supposed to give you a rough idea of the mineral content

There isn't ash, it is some test that the feed is subject to to meet legal requirements.

Ash is mineral content I think.
Minerals, (if I remember my O level chemisrty) is all that ought to be left after something is reduced to ash, then you can measure what levels you have.
