Well I am a big hacking fan but decided to go in the menage this morning. Today I decided to ride some 'diamonds' or boxes because we're having some 'drifting' issues when I try to keep straight. Or you could work on transitions, maybe alternate between 8 strides walk, 8 strides trot? Or acute transitions, halt to trot and back to halt? Enjoy, whatever you decide

I pootled around a nice 7 mile hack as I'm still recovering from 'flu. Marigold decided pootling was NOT an option and was a real handful - little minx!

Had a little schooling session this morning which went really well considering the wind was up her tail, lol. I even had a comment from my riding instructor who i didn't know was evening watching whilst she was talking to another livery, she said that things looked to be going really well On boxing day we did a little bit of fun ground work. Popped out some poles to trot over and then popped the poles up on the crates to get her lifting her feet up, she jumped it a few times then did some lovely trot work over them Hopefully go out for a little hack tomorrow. x

Was throwing it down today, so took Lincoln for a gentle walk. Enebro's bridle broke yesterday (yikes!), and although I already had a new one, it's meant for best, and after I had oiled it I didn't have the heart to use it in this weather, so only rode out on Lincoln today. xx

Yep, we've been out, just round our trails in the forest. Couldn't use the sand ring even if I had any inclination to, which I don't, as it is totally covered in ice with a 3" frosting of snow.

How about trying some long reining sometimes instead of riding. That can be fun and good for horse too. Can do trotting poles. I am in the process of trying to get the horse I ride for her daddy to learn how to school. She is doing ace! Well at least I think so. Must be less soft with her though. erm... Did you know that even on hacks you can school a horse. Try transitions on hacks. Walk, Trot, and walk again. Gets them to go from your leg and listen.
Enjoy!

3 of us played games - weaving and a jump and getting off and picking up a brush then racing back! Although my friends horse got over excited and decided to buck buck and buck! Lennie was a star - although we came last!
