I'm finding sometimes if I'm having to push Tex on to keep a canter I get a crampy feeling in my bum cheeks/ hips . Does anyone else get this? Am I doing something wrong? Is it the wideness of the saddle? I'm hoping to get a Vogue when they're available and hoping it won't be such a problem then.

Sounds like you're finding the seat a bit wide and maybe tensing through the hips which won't help. Heather Moffett has a hipsaver that fits onto treeless saddles and makes them a tad narrower

I've got the HM seat saver! ;D I usually start to canter in a half seat, then sit. It's worse if I'm sitting to the canter TBH. Hmmm...I probably am tensing through the hips then. How can I untense?

Breathing! Big exhale into canter then keep breathing in canter. Let your legs hang down and lightly on his sides and back up your aids with a tap with a crop or schooling whip if necessary

I have been trying to take responsibility for my own weight since reading MW and it is worse if I'm 'wrapping' my legs around. After seeing some recent photos of me riding I've noticed that my knees point out away from the saddle and I've been trying to 'drop' my upper leg more. I wonder if this is related? Thanks for the advice guys.
