my mare is going very barefoot quick question, returned from a hack this morning and washed out hooves so i could check for grit etc.noticed that on one front quarter, near fore , she is actually walking on the sole not the wall. Is this ok? mare is sound and happy but I dont want to make her sore.

I always trim mine so the load is shared by wall and sole.

Most likely fine if she's sound but keep an eye on wear for a while.

Usually trim mine so the wall is more or less at or above the sole too and then roll the wall to help the white line nice and tight. Leaving too much wall height above the sole can potentially put lever forces on the white line and stretch it, bear in mind that when you're on anything other than tarmac or concrete the sole is sharing the load anyway. If you horse is comfortable then there's no problem
