I hope I don't break any rules by posting this here, but I do this for an aquintance in France, involved in the rescue of several horses. I just copy and paste her story and hope someone can give the lad a home.
Eros is about 14.3, 16 years old, papered, microchipped, vac and wormed. He is very good to handle very quiet and gentle, he is good with the farrier and vet. He is looking for a special retirement home where he can have a buddy as a neighbour and get lots of TLC. He comes with his rugs and is free to a good home. He was saved from slaughter in Dec of last year and we are only looking to re home him because we have a livery yard and lots of mares...(when we rescued him we were told he was a gelding!)
My telephone numbers are 05 55 08 27 60 or mobile 06 78 20 26 63.
Thanks,
Deb.
And this is what she wrote to me as back up information:
His confirmation isnt brilliant...bless him. We have no idea if he was ridden before, but he is very quiet to handle, comes running accross the field when you call him, you can put his rugs on whilst he's grazing without a headcollar, he's cool with tractors and poop hoovers being in the field with him...he just follows you around. He winters out with a shelter and rugs on. He had a gelding in with him for 7 months and luvved him to pieces when that gelding left we put another one next to him and after a month intorduced them...he fancied the pants of him and we had to seperate them....so he is in one field and the gelding next door..so we have said he would be happiest with a neighbour and as a companion. Our situation here is we are doing some work with the SPA french equivalent of the RSPCA, Eros and Chico his buddy have fields on 10 acres of our land and most of the rescues for some reason are female..so with Eros we are very restricted as to what we can help with, this is the only reason for rehoming him. He so deserves a home where he can just chill and have a buddy and get loads of TLC. He has some old scars around his head, so obviously has had an accident at some point in the past...but he is so trusting and luvs you stroking his face and sratching his ears...amazing after all he's been through! He will not take wormers/meds in his mouth (possibly due to something that happened when he had the accident) but he will take wormers or medicine in his food quite happily with honey! He really is a dear old soul. We had Liz from Loc Transport pick him up, he was very difficult to load but travelled well once on board so if we were lucky enough to find him a home in the UK it would be good for him to travel back with them as they know him and she is one of our regular transporters and moved lots of horses for our clients including other rescues... they are excellent with difficult horses.. He will weave if stabled but is as happy as Larry just in a field with rugs and a shelter as I mentioned. He is good with the farrier and the vet..but doesnt like you touching his bits Anywhere else is cool tho! We luv him to pieces...so a special home with loads of TLC is really important for him. It would be great if you could mention him to your friends...we're keeping everything crossed for him!
She added in a different pm that the cost of the transport from France would be in the region of 500 pound (but don't take that as the quoted figure please)
