Hi all It's been great reading the DG over the last week or so, so I thought it was about time to introduce myself I've been having riding lessons and loving it for the last 2 years. I don't have my own horse but came across the site after I had a sudden crisis of confidence on a hack a couple of weeks ago. I've been tanked off with a few times on the same horse (I don't ride her at present) but it hadn't bothered me until then... I hacked out again on Sunday and it was OK but I've lost a lot of the calmness and confidence I had... Has anyone else experienced the same? I know I'm still a relative newcomer (I'm an adult learner) but I'm not sure what's happened

Welcome to the DG Catm. There's lots of us who have had, or are having, issues with confidence.
Come and post in the Perfect Confidence Section (and the rest of the board of course). You'll get lots of support and great advice on there.

I started riding late too, one of the best thing I ever did. Six years later I still get the nerves, as do the most experience lot do as well, I'm sure. When I started I use to have as many lessons that I could afford. Well done. ps I sing when I'm nervous ;D

Thank you both... I try to talking to either my instructor or horse so that I'm at least breathing which is always a bonus! Am just waiting to get the old confidence back - I'm sure I'll be fine but good to know I'm in good company and I'll definitely be looking out for lots of tips and friendly advice on the DG. After a pretty difficult period in life my riding means the world to me so I'm determined to stick with it x
