I may have chance to go to a local riding club show in June...very excited, we haven't done a show in 2 years! I plan on taking Bran into the M&M in hand. Can I just check what I have is okay?: Me: Have a black velvet for my skull cap, will this suffice for local shows or should I borrow a showing hat? white shirt (does it matter if it's short sleeved?) Tie - which colour? beige trousers (bran is black) brown boots
Bran: Am I right in thinking it should be a brown bridle? It'll be a normal bridle, so with reins? Should it have a "hunter" flat noseband or will a raised one do? He'll be all scrubbed up, mane and tail left natural (and will train mane to lie on correct side!)
Need to get a-practising!

This was us at our first and last show... (note the blue rosette!!!!) Forgot to say I have a blue tweed jacket similar to this one.

You look fine to me, there's nothing major that needs changing. Bran looks gorgeous. If you're wearing similar next time, I'd hook the noseband up a hole or two to show off his lovely face, tuck your shirt in and use plaiting thread or dark elastic to hold your number on. If you have a shirt with a tighter collar, with will improve your appearance too, it doesn't matter that it's short sleeved, because you'll be wearing a jacket over it! Have you tried chalking your pony's socks with a chalk block? It'll really make them sparkle.
What options for ties do you have? I can't tell the colour of that one, is it blue or black?

Ties - I was wearing a blue one in this photo but don't think I have it any more...what colour should I wear? My new tweed jacket I think has a navy collar so I guess navy tie? Do I need to wear a hat at all? Also where do I get chalk from?!

A blue tie can look a bit dull. What colour is your jacket? and does it have any overcheck in it? If you want to keep the blue, blue and yellow (or gold) can look really smart. For welsh classes you don't have to wear a hat, but that tends to go with wearing a waistcoat rather than a jacket, and wearing trainers too. If you're going in tweed etc a hat looks smarter IMO. You can usually get a chalk block from tack shops. This is the sort of thing to look for www.hoofheartedequestrian.co.uk/chalk-block-i1307.html
