I am competing on sunday in my first ever show...its a local riding club show, and I plan to do ridden cob and coloured in-hand. I have been to a couple of shows recently to check out what I will be required to wear etc, and have noticed that in ridden cob there was no individual show (unlike ridden coloured for example). The competitors rode around in walk/trot/canter, then came in and the judge rode each in turn, then they stripped, trotted up, then back on , walk around before the call in. However, I have been told that at riding club shows an individual show is required (since the judge doesnt ride). I have checked in a friends showing book, and, yes, it says that in ridden cob an individual show isnt required. So my question is...who is right??

I'd check with the secretary. At most local show the judge won;'t ride so you need to do a short show to include trot, canter, a change of rein and a gallop (important for cobs.) It;s generally only affiliated shows that have a judge ride and then horse strip; but some bigger local shows will so give them a call and check
