i'm so happy to find this forum!
i live in France and i've got 2 baby boys - i call them Ken and Reg for short haha - here's a piccie below - Ken is the dun (fjord dad/connemara+arab mum), and Reg is the blue (connemara dad/english thoroughbred mum)... Ken's just turned 4 and is about 14.2, and Reg has just turned 3 and is about 15.2...
they've been real fun and a big challenge and very very rewarding! I've had Ken since he was 2 and a 1/2, basically unhandled and quite fearful and untrusting, so have been using Kelly's books in working with him and trying to gain his trust -they've been wonderful and very reassuring! and "fake hand" was a real life-saver haha!
Ken is a real sweetie and very affectionate, and has made so much progress, and is very mellow with us, but still doesnt trust strangers (inc. vet & farrier) readily, so there is still a lot of work to be done! i'm sure i will be posting plenty in the "Help" section hehe! i backed him last summer and have just been taking things slowly and gently with his schooling... lots of groundwork, lungeing and long-reining, free schooling, and basic ridden work in walk trot canter... we've done a few little hacks, but i really need to pluck up more courage to take him further afield really as i don't have anyone to ride with here...
Reg came along last autumn, and i've just been doing basic handling work with him, getting him used to touch, brushing, picking up his feet - he was fine without "fake hand" haha and seems very keen to learn! he's had a bridle and roller so far, and yesterday i tried desensitising him to a saddle blanket, but he didnt fuss at all, so i just popped it on his back and he was very mellow... will try popping a saddle on him sometime soon...
anyway, here they are!
