Hi Nikki,
Yes, that does sound like fun - and within a reasonable travelling distance for me too. BUT - I've already entered for the Pleasure Ride at West Wycombe Park on the same day, so can't do both.
Maybe next year.

this race was started in the welsh mountains, when two farmers were arguing about who could get over a boggy mountian top faster, the horse or the man. So the race satrted, the horse narrowly winning each time, later mountain bikes were included and william hill became invloved with thousands of pounds being bet. The disatnce was 24miles and often completed by mainly local riders in 2-3hours. Eventually the bikers and runners and prize money attracted better athleits and Ithink the horse got beaten. It was an annual event in the town. To train for it my friend would ride his horse at a trot for long periods and took 6 months to train each year. where in bucks is it?
