So ok in working hunter you have to jump, not a real option with Gally now as has arthrituis (sp) in fetlocks but sound due to flexadin daily so only have occasional "pop" in our school. So what is a show hunter class? Kinder question here for Cubic again (sorry to hijack thread) is my boy to heavy weight to do this kinder class & like workinh hunter do you have to jump?

A show hunter class is for hunter type horses (which gally is) and is a flat class like the veteran classes, although the judge may ride your horse instead of you giving an individual show. It's judged on type, conformation and way of going/manners. Give one a go and see how you do!

Thanks Cubic thing is though Gally is not a novice ride is in fact stage 4 standard type ride & can be quite difficult (he had accident when being ridden by a "pro" bolted off in manage & went through arena putting part of arena fence into his brisket we almost lost him....... so im scared of anyone but myself (or hubby) riding him). Would it be ok if judge asked to ride that i declined & left the ring?

If he could be dangerous, it's definately best to excuse yourself if the judge rides (although most are very experienced, it's obviously not fair to present them with a particuarly unpredictable horse, especially in an unfamilliar environment). Most shows will know before the day whether their judge will ride the exhibit, so reading the schedule carefully or ringing them to clarify is probably the best way to go. When you get to the ring you can usually tell if the judge is going to ride, depending on whether they're wearing riding gear

Cheers Cubic i make Gals sound like a demon,he's calmed down alot in the last 4yrs since accident even our trainee rides him in the school (she is a stage 3 standard, but always under hubbys suprevision) however he likes to be ridden with a still leg/seat so maybe will leave the ring after all dont want to kill any judges! LOL ;D ;D
