Hopefully if everything goes well, then I will be doing the 160k (100 miles)
I have done this for the last X number of years.
They have some great pubs in the village. We normally use the "White Horse"
The GHS is the best ride out tough but great.

Hi Eden - I note that there is a pleasure ride - do you know any details of that cos if it seems feasible I might come down and do that!
Who knows - maybe one day I'll join Pauline and do the 100 miles but for now a non competitive ride is enough

Sarah If you go to the EGB main site and on your left hand side you will see a list of web sites for rides. If you go to the golden horse shoe site you will find all the info you want. Here is the link www.goldenhorseshoe-ride.co.uk/Hope you can make it. The pleasure ride is on the Sunday morning and the main rides are on the Monday and Tuesday. We stay with an old friend and there is always stabling there. You can always put up a bed and come and crew after your ride. Pauline

I haven't been to the White Horse for absolutely years but it used to be owned by a friend's Mum many years ago and a real character she was, too! Her son was an excellent rider and was very, very good looking and a great charmer! He was a Master of the Cattistock foxhounds for quite a while and I used to ride his horses when kept at the same private Quantocks yard as my horses prior to that. She gave me a really good lunch when I went with a friend to pick up a mare for her son from an Exford livery yard - not the White Horse yard! The mare was a real cow and I was the only one who rode her, more fool me - she went to a hunting yard in Kent, I believe.

Is it worth coming to spectate rather than ride? Just thinking through the options......

Lucky Red, is it worth coming to the GH to spectate, did you mean?
Absolutely definately yes!! Apart from all the stuff going on at the venue, it's nice to be able to drive up onto the moor and watch the riders going over some of the most spectacular parts of the course, the views are amazing (if it's not raining).

Hi I shall hopefully be at the horseshoe ride. My stallion Yawl Hillbilly is one of the stallions parading on Sunday and we are sponsoring the top mare at horseshoe to a free covering to Billy and his girlfreind Connie might be doing (not planning anything plans are bad) the 160km class so Billy will have a few days holiday at Horseshoe with connie and I Kirsty

I'd love to come along. Posted something on the areas page on the members board, but just found this one! I'm more in the spectating with a picnic and a glass of wine camp! xx
