Copied this from the general forum in case it wasn't seen there!!

I don't know exactly where it is - but just look out for any symptoms, it can't hurt to be prepared!!
A horse at the same yard as my boy is on has been swabbed suspected of having strangles, the YO has informed us all who have horses there to be on the lookout for symptoms.
Apparently his horse had been away for 6 weeks (being retrained) was returned and that is when he realised that she looked under the weather, called the vet and he suspects strangles. Horse is now isolated and we have obviously been asked to stay away from that particular stable block, which is on the oposite side of the yard to my stable.
Now I don't know if it wise to take my man round to his stable or just leave him in the field until we know, vet should have some news this week.
Does anyone know how this is transmitted? I understand it to be bacterial but am I correct?

No I don't mind you putting this up on here at all. I am pleased to be able to report that the horse is improving and will be allowed out into a small secure fenced part of the field by itself by the end of this week 28th Sept, if all goes according to plan. No other horses have so far been effected either ;D

Well the little pony that had the strangles had her last swab taken yesterday, so far all swabs have come back negative ;D ;D No other horse has had any problems and it seems that as long as this last test comes back clear we are CLEAN again ;D
