has anyone ever been there to ride?? some people from our yard have been a couple of times, kids on ponies, and really enjoyed it. I am gonna go next time for a reccie, on a pushbike ;D to suss it out... but i have these visions of my neddy seeing the wild ponies and legging over to them, ditching me in the process and living with them, wild, for ever and a day.... erm.. tacked up of course...!! one of the mums said there are a lot of gates so that if horses got loose, they would not be loose in a massive area... is this true? i am a born worrier... maybe she was trying to make me feel better...

Hi, Em I used to ride over the Quantocks on more or less a daily basis! It is lovely riding and the terrain varies from place to place and some of it is pretty tough going. If you go to Ramscombe you'll find it is a good place to ride from or to cycle - remember they aren't called the Quantock Hills for nothing ;D ;D You shouldn't get bothered by the feral ponies - just avoid the stallion but he's generally no bother. Lots of gates? Well, not everywhere! It depends on where you go but your horses will not b***er off! If one does, they won't go far as he won't want to leave his companions! There are miles and miles of bridle paths in this relatively small area - it's great! Go armed with a good map and plan your route. If I still rode, I would be more than happy to join you but those days are behind me now See you soon Liz

You could both meet up at Bicknoller and ride from there - it's nice at that end of the Quantocks which is the far end from me!
