and the captain made me put them out on the open deck on there own Can I point out it's actually a very GOOD THING that your horses were on an open deck (albeit on their own) because the ferry itself is full of car fumes! When I brought mine over from the UK, I made a point of asking if I could park on the open deck with my lorry ;D And though the ferry was full, the captain, bless him, even allowed me room so I could put the ramp down during the journey and let the air in. AND they let me check the horses every hour (accompanied).

Hi Marianne, well mine journey was very different, firstly the was no more than 10 cars in the ferry and there was enough room to park up to 10 lorries or more, so there was ample space in the ferry, and secondly they were out on the open deck and yes I agree that there is more air out there for them, however the hydraulic doors came down directly (1 foot approx) behind the trailer and as it was going down Tila was freaking out and trying to kick her way out of the box... also the staff where not nice at all and wouldnt allow me to go and check them at all, so for the entire 3 hours I sat out on a deck and watched them. and for the entire journey not 1 person checked on them at all.

and in addition to that the ferry IS NOT full of car fumes when all the engines are switched off and the doors dont come down until the ferry has set sail, so there is plenty of time for any fumes to clear..

shelley2, Don't know where you are based and which part of the UK you are going to. It would be much better to take your colt with you for peace of mind but the offer still stands if you cannot get your colt accommodation sorted. We have unlimited grazing and hay. Doesn't sound like it's been much fun with the anti-English feeling - such a shame. You can a send me a PM and I will give you our tel.no. Good luck.
