Hi shelley2.....if you'd like to email me direct I'll see what we can do from the French side. You can apply for a passport for him but it all depends on the timescale you have left to get that sorted.
My email is trina@equinerescuefrance.org

Shelley are you going back to the UK for good or just a (long?) visit? I'm in the Lot-and-Garonne and am happy to help if I can. I have two yearling colts at the moment in with the rest of my herd.

hi marianne thanx for posting.i am afraid we are going back to the uk for good.we have to sell our house in france so i am anticipating we will not be going just yet.trina is looking into a few options for me.if it is possible i would like to keep him but have got no facilities at home and we will be having to house hunt so full grass livery with an exp person would be ideal till we get sorted

Shelley, I have a few rescues here including a young colt who came along with his mum. I would be happy to have him here and he could play with the other young colt. Having a colt here is no problem. He can stay here free of charge (because he is a rescue). Just supply the odd wormer for him and a little bit for his food and and we will make sure he is well and happy. We are an hour from the coast up north in France. He will have a large barn shelter and plenty of grazing. Many years experience.

oh ragnar that is very kind of you that would be fab, as he would be half way home we have actually had an offer on the house already! eek and after lots of stern words my hubby has finally agreed that i can take bailey home( yeah!!!!! ) he is not at all horsey and all he sees is the cost and stress of getting him home, although i think he has developed a soft spot for him as he was very concerned when bailey was laying in the field sunbathing and kept asking if he should go out to see if he was ok!! oh bless i'll make a horseman out of him yet!!! do you know anybody who has transport and would fancy earning some cash?? i dont know of anybody around here they all seem to hate us coz we are english

Oh shelley, that is awful!! what about one of the transporters that have been bringing the horses over, the journey is going to be worrying for you no matter how you bring him over, I would def recommend a lorry and not a box!! I've just brought my two over to N Ireland on a trailer and the captain made me put them out on the open deck on there own!! had they been in a lorry that wouldnt of been an option.
