TV series highlights work of ILPH Equestrian News | 1 August, 2007
A TELEVISION series following the daily work of the International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH) has premiered on new channel Horse & Country TV (SKY channel 280).
The 12-part series named ‘Horse Patrol’ follows the charity’s 16 UK field officers as they investigate cases of horse cruelty and neglect. Horse Patrol also features ILPH farm manager Janet Dale and her team at the charity's newest Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre, the Glenda Sthingyer Farm in Somerset.
Blenheim Films approached the ILPH to make a series of programmes last year. “My father introduced me to the ILPH as a child and I made a short film about the ILPH's work to stop the transport of live horses for slaughter ten years ago,” said producer/director Candida Brady.
“Their work is extremely important and we felt it would make a really interesting television series. We were really pleased that Horse & Country TV immediately saw the potential of this series."
ILPH chief executive John Smales said: “We are delighted that the work of the ILPH will be brought to life in ‘Horse Patrol’. This will enable everyone to see the good work we do for the welfare of horses throughout the UK, and the series is a testament to the effectiveness and dedication of our field officers and our Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre staff.”
