they are about as big as houseflies but when you touch them they run fly jump attack you etc when they run thats when they seem to iratate the horse more they are horrible

ours are all gone now so can't oblige with a photo but agree with Welshcob's description, they are about the size of a housefly but brownish rather than black and they run sideways very fast! Best place to find them is under the tail, I check all of ours everyday under there, just in case! Yeuch!!

i was itching all the way home with a sadistic child saying she could see one on me (which isn,t very good when you are driving) and for welschcobs friend who did have one on her we have a nice can of flyspray ready for when she comes into the shop ;D ummmmm crab flies or kids which one is worse
