Can i just say theres alot of high emotion and worries and were working flat out to help the horses and new owners find each other, eg i havent been to bed b4 3am for the last 4 nights now and been going since 7am. answering emails trying to keep all updated and organised. working flat out without barely a coffee break. thats me i can also say the others asre working real hard to. emails are litterally flying, blink and you got 30.
Can i ask people who have worries that we are against time and causing high emotion ontop of high emotion is risking these lifes, regarding transport issues please theres other companies you can use. I am going with the origionals but you all may please yourself as to what you feel comfortable with. If anyone wants to travel with transport company then your welcomed. they leave monday for bordo, picking our up on wed lunch time on the way back.
regarding ID,- Horses with no ID- if you want to secure a horse with no ID you can but you mustb arrange for vet to have the horse chipped and papered before transport arrives, Im sure lucy being bilingual could ring a vet to come out and do this if you as nicely.
Regarding entering the UK. Im personally satisfied with the information i have been given the defra confirmation and the transport company who are doing this weekly. Although for peace of mind by monday we hope to have a clear answer from the french side.
Time is of Utter importance lets not waste it. i hope you all understand, i just want you to know some issues we have to wait until monday until we can satisfy minds but others is a personal choice and your free to chose which way it is done after all it will be your horse therefor your choice how to proceed in aquiring the animal. thanks everyone you lot have been amazing i cant believe the amount of equines that have now got new homes to go to. words cant express just how great this is, i for 1 will do everything i can to help. PM me if theres anything i can do or if your not sure who to talk to next.
Thanks Lisa xx

Ok,iwillbuy! that sounds reasonable, not sure it would make much difference, but happy to do that! Hi Gail, yes,we all know about the bigger picture and your points are perfectly valid. However, these are the horses that we have chosen to rescue, everybody has to decide individually what to do,when, etc about all the million horrific things that go on around the world, personally I am also a big supporter of the Brooke hospital as I think they do an amazing job.But this is what we have decided to do now.As to the horsemeat culture in the uk,at least they are not being exported alive yet, although if we don't ALL get together and support the ILPH then this will not last much longer either. Regards to all.Sarah

The biggest protection for our ponies and horses is the minimum value thing perhaps EMW would enlighten us as to how the new EU regulations will affect that. But I do believe quite a lot of ponies and horses from this country make the long journey across europe via Southern Ireland. So again although I admire what is happening I worry perhaps there are others nearer home that need help including someone on this board that asked for help

highlanderpony2002 - i am also under the impression (from a local meat trader) that our market horses are transported live to europe via southern ireland
now granted, he could have been winding me up in order for me to take another pony but now you've mentioned it too then I wonder......

Yes,I'm afraid I have heard of that loophole too.Although I've not been able to find any further info about it to validate, there is nothing that I can find on any of the charities websites.
So there we are,if we all want to get together to fight that one when all this is over then great!
We are doing this because it has been brought to our attention,as I have said.
If we are going to go ahead and tackle the uk issue, then it needs a different approach,we are the voting public here so we have more sway than in France, which means that the best way to tackle things here is by getting together, possibly with the support of one of the charities and lobbying our mps and getting signatures and holding demonstrations etc. I wonder, does the emw have any suggestions about this? The 2 issues we would be looking at would be 1) are horses leaving the uk via southern ireland? this would obviously need to be investigated first.and 2)What can we do to prevent the uk joining the eu laws on live export? as I understand that the protection that our horses have is likely to be gone shortly with the eu laws taking over. So if somebody would like to organise this then I for 1 would back them, what do you all think? Sx

How well do we really know one another? If you take the decision to buy a horse from anywhere with your own money you have the right to spend your money and make your choice. To give money for a horse (either in full or part) to be donanted to a reputable rescue makes sense. But to buy a horse for someone you don't know, and hand over title to it makes me feel uncomfortable.

But to buy a horse for someone you don't know, and hand over title to it makes me feel uncomfortable. I see your point, but I bet it makes you not half as uncomfortable as those poor horses otherwise destined for Italy and someone's plate I can get references from my vet, physio, trainer. I am a western saddlefitter. This is me www.western-saddler.co.uk I am open to checking. I am sure the others are too. It may be a bad world at times but there are good people in it too.
