it's the welfare and future of these vulnerable horses. Exactly, and without people like Sarah, JL, etc there would be no future at all for these vulnerable horses. I think she is doing a great thing - at least the horses are getting a chance.

It was only 5 minutes ago that folk wanted a commitee setting up for future rescues and home checks and standards setting.... why? because a rescue had proved to be a fraud, and was set to make a lot of money on the back of other folks generosity. folk have such short memories

i think the thing is to now sit and back and wait smudge hopefully and i mean that sincerley all the caution will be proved wrong but i do see hartbreak ahead for some of the rescued horses if contracts are not set in stone

Hi to smudge and iwillbuy, You are such cynics, but I do understand you! The trouble is that there are 2 ways to do this as far as I can see; 1) for me and the others involved to all put up what we can afford, buy what people can offer homes to,trusting that they are all they say they are and will do all they say they will, and for them then to own the horses. 2) for me to buy the horses and bring them back to my place whilst I sort out the horrendous logistics of home checks and do all the necessary paperwork, then send them out on loan to the people concerned with contracts stating that they are not to be sold on etc and must come back to me if any probs. Now,whilst I am in a position to put up some cash for these horses,I already have 10 horses of my own, mostly rescues, and own an almost full rehab/retirement center,so would seriously struggle to bring the horses here and would also struggle if they all get dumped back on me at a future date, not saying I couldn't do it,but def not in my list of preferences!! That is the whole problem with loaning, they are yours at the end of the day. I am not planning on owning the horses atall, the onus is on the owners to look after them.I really can't see the difference between the new owners putting up some or all of the money,I get offered free horses pretty often and I'm sure that if this was just about people wanting a cheap horse they wouldn't be doing it.We know practically nothing about these horses,I could find many horses going cheap or free if that was what this was about. This, surely,is about the fact that these horses have been brought to our attention, they are all facing a horrific journey to slaughter and we can't bear not to intervene, futile though that may be in the grand scale of things,But then it would aso be pretty futile to hrow the same amount of money at preventing it the red tape way, that fight costs millions and has been going on for years. What do you suggest?Shall we all just do nothing then? ( Not cross by the way!!)

i second you sarah, i cant sit by either. im sad i couldnt take more and its horrid having to chose 1 whilst leaving others but 1 is better than none and by god shes the one out of them all that can smell death you can see it in her eye. thats why i chose her. i wont ever let anything bad happen to her from here in.

sarah you are an angel and how i would like to trust everyone the way you do maybe for us cynics just a little piece of paper to say that they will not sell on and they are assured a home for life surely nobody would mind doing that and the ones that do mind probably weren,t right for the horses in the first place

Hi, Sarah informed me earlier about Rose so shes safe. wow thats you gem and welsh cob offered a home to her. Amazing, i hope she has a wonderful life with you Tia. Well done everyone whos giving these darlings a chance.
Theres plenty more looking for homes. At the start there were 22 needing homes on the list. Thats including the 2 Percheron mares (who are not on the current list) The current list has 20 adverts. The horses now saved are highlighted saved in bold red, theres still atleast 10 more on the dept41 list.
All links situated below dept 41 horses are horses of another dept,
Horses can be seen on the thread named - DEPT 41 AT RISK LIST
Thanks, Lisa Carrera xxx

Dont jump on me...ive just been watching all these threads without comment, for 2 reasons really, firstly i wish i had some money to rescue, and secondly there are hundreds of horses in england that need homes and at risk too...so while i think those that can afford to and are helping these horses are amazing, please dont forget about horses in this country...What also concerns me is these horses will all be replaced and pretty soon, i feel all thats happening is that the interest in these horses will increase the price if your not careful.
Best of luck to all that are getting one tho..!
