Hi,
forgive me if this is a bit rushed. As one or two of you know,I have been so busy arranging this the last few days,I forgot to arrange any staff today and now have 39 neddies to do on my own!!!
All the mares settled well and are nice and relaxed, contentedly munching away.
Rose has been completely glued to Tila who appears to have adoted her.Rose is really sweet, but is very thin and vulnerable, just a baby really and Tila is a wise old girl, and has been protecting her from the others, not that they are nasty, but they are happy to move rose on and ignore her, which tila has stopped without any fuss. They are all in a paddock as I felt that grass and each other company would be the best thing for them at this stage, the paddock has a barn attached and Tila has been taking Rose in there with her for a rest and fly break. They are both really sweet, rose almost walks into me when she comes for fuss!
the other 3 mares are in better condition and more self sufficient,I ahve spent some time just being in the field with them and can now get pretty close to all of them,I have been concentrating on rose and tila the most as they are in the need of the most immediate attention, but Iginis is also coming round and happy to investigate me from about 3 feet away.
So that is the way of things so far,my plan is to take my time so that they come to me with trust in the first instance rather than to catch them by stealth and then try and win them over,i realise that this would be easier if I separated them, butI think at the moment at least, they need each other for support and this is more important.
gem is planning to come over later and hopefully take some pics
All for now.Sx
