Have been thinking alot about this, I would like to save one of the Donkeys to have as a companion to my aged Shetland Mare. Im afraid though this wont be possible as they are either in foal or entire? Dont mind getting sn entire at all but would be worried about my shettie.
Is anyone else thinking of helping one of these horses? I would need to go on with someone for transport. Any advice anyone?
I wish I had the money to save a horse aswell *poor things* does anyone know anything about the Mule?

Im sorry but I don''t agree that Woffords are reasonable. I wouldn't say £850 (at their special rate) to Nottinghamshire is reasonable. They are the most expensive of all I got quotes from.
John Parker who does international and who I have personally used twice, quoted a couple of hundred pounds less.
There were others who were less than him too. All are insured.
People on here are racking their brains to find money to save these poor horses. They have got newspapers, feed merchants involved, yet really why doesn't one of the horse transporters come up with a better deal when they are collecting 7 horses at a time? This is an inbound trip too, most big transport agents go to Europe weekly to drop off, so they are coming back anyway.
I would like to see one of these big transport companies do a proper deal for all these kind folks who have found it in their hearts to save these horses.

Having been arranging a last minute rescue tonight for tomorrow morning with them I can confirm that price aside Wofford take care of the horses. They stopped further south than they meant to because they follow the rules and have made sure I know what is going on.

Hi Andaloosian. Are you sure about the quote? I know there special rate for these horses is £300 to essex plus VAT. Who did you speak to? was it the bosses or was it other Staff? i had a call from the bosses earlier and £300 plus VAT to essex was mentioned again and that as they are going out almost weekly they are doing that price for these horses where pick up will be as they are coming back. I will double check tomorrow with Woffords for everyone. xx

I can confirm what Lisa has said. That is the price range we have talked about recently and it is what they quoted a rescue today. Did you tell them it was a rescue and 'this' rescue (only because I guess some will try anything to get cheap transport)??

My friend has bought a horse which is costing £300 + VAt France to Wiltshire with Woffords. It would have cost her another £450 - £500 with them to Nottinghamshire, but she is saving money by hiring a lorry to get him. yes, they know it is a rescue, they have paid for it on her behalf and she paid them into their bank.
All the other quotes are correct, although i did not tell them it was for rescues, only Woffords. Maybe a group of people could get together and contact one of these companies, like P& L Luck, Parkers and see if they can do a cheaper rate for these poor horses??

Well sadly I have been trying to sort finnances out all weekend, and it just isnt happening I cant afford transport and the price of buying, not to mention the vets fees when it arrived I really thought I could but I just cant. Am so sorry to let them down. I will of course do anything else I can do to help, just say the word. I am telling everyone I know of this appeal atm so fingers crossed that will do some good. Well done all of you xxx
