Buyers please note:
When you commit to buying a horse from France, things you need to know are: I will go by our own transporters as an example - woffords international horse transport. (Transport prices vary between companies)
1. How to pay for the horse - (if you want woffords to do the transaction for you, they are happy to do the transaction on pick up for you) but please note: you pay the cost of the horse to woffords plus 1.4 euro exchange rate. plus 2% on top. (these are the costs they incur from their bank) As this is not business expenses you can pay that to the personal account so that you are not charged VAT from woffords too.
2. If your horse is £xxx plus VAT you must make sure you pay woffords the VAT on the horse to woffords or they will be short of euros. Also the dealers need to give a receipt for the horse with ownership as proof. (THEY CANNOT GIVE THIS AND A RECEIPT/PROOF OF PURCHASE IF THE VAT IS NOT PAID, OR IT WILL COST HIM WITH HIS VAT MAN). So make sure all VAT if applicable is covered.
3. Transport costs- £300 to Wiltshire plus vat = £354.00 (woffords) some french Dept costs may vary (example dept 88 is a days drive away from Dept 41)
4. Transport from base in uk (woffords case-Wiltshire) to your home, by separate negotiation. Transport has to be paid into the business account and you will be charged V.A.T.
5. Any stabling costs are approx £20 per night if used, (consult your transporter if this is needed)
PLEASE NOTE: If you are not happy with the costs you are free to find alternative arrangements. Please contact who ever you wish to use for queeries over payment. We DO NOT deal with any pament regarding this operation, we just try to liase and cant be responsible for any mistakes, (contact your transporters and make sure you are clear before preceeding to pament transfer)
6. If horse has no ID, This will need to be done from a local vet before the horse leaves. You will need to organize this, Woffords may take vet payment and can get vet to do this before boarding. This must be arranged in advanced. Contact woffords about this.
7. All info we know on a horse is what is on the advert. You are taking a chance and buying off the cuff. We cannot vouch for the sincerity or accuracy or adverts, all though we place them on site we keep the ad word perfect therefore right as we know it to be.
So here i have tried to outline things so that people understand the process. Also in the hope that when and only when someone is sure, they then contact us.
8. NOTE: EACH HORSE HAS A POINT OF CONTACT: If you are interested in a horse please contact the person who has been appointed as the contact for that horse. (we have had 3 horses offered homes each by 4 people) so please if the ad says contact lucy.airs@wanadoo.fr then only contact lucy, she will reply asap. This will keep allot of confusion down.
