this is a reply from a lady i emailed , she is interested in helping she does not know how , what would you suggest?
Hi I have just read about the plight of those poor creatures, as a horse owner myself and a great animal lover I can never understand the concept of all of this, and how there can be people that just dont give a dam. What help do you need, I know you would want donations, but unfortunately I dont have money to give at this moment, but have contacted a colleague of mine about doing some fund raising to help you out but will take a couple of weeks to get organised, plus I will be doing some church fetes over the next couple of months and would be willing to put collecting tins etc out is this any good. Look forward to hearing from you Lyn Fardell

I haven't the faintest idea about this sort of thing, but I wonder if there aren't rules about collecting tins, etc., especially as we're not a registered charity. I'd probably suggest we need to be sure of anything like that before we plunge in, only to find that we're liable to fines for getting it wrong.
But what a kind offer. Even if she could just spread the word about this, Lisa's website and the ILPH campaign, that would be great.

try to create some temp poster with piccys of some of the very poor looking horses as this will attract peoples attention, and get her to put them up at the church fetes and local livery yards etc. make people aware.

Hi everyone the lady has written back again - she seems lovley please read on....
Hi Shelly a colleague of mine passed the link onto me as we keep in close contact with all of this, in fact she has an equestrian supplies shop so as far as the t-shirts go we could sell quite a few between us so no problem there just let us know. Like I say we are going to set up some aromatherapy demonstration parties, of which we will be happy to donate some of the commission on sales, plus do raffles etc and I know you are not a registered charity do you have a logo or anything like that and information that I could put on flyers/posters etc. I am sure that the livery where we are between us we could put another horse/pony at our stables, I know that they are looking for a gelding, but I would be happy to have one of the horses in plight and I am sure that if we all put in together we could buy one, will speak to my colleagues and print some stuff off your web site and we will also get together to get some fund raising done to bring one home for us. Look forward to hearing from you again God bless Lyn x

Please be careful. You need a small lotteries licence to do raffles. You need a street collection permit to do collections. You do not need to be a registered charity though.

absolutely really. I am a licensing Officer this is my job it is not a hard thing to do, just needs a bit of admin and you are expected to do a return. People who print raffle tickets are expected to ask for your number and publish it on the ticket. I would hate to see you all locked up for illegal gambling!
