Being a large group (as with the Comtois last week )the chestnut and bays of dept do not seem to have been getting much interest on this or the french site. Its difficult to single them out and I guess they are not as attractive as some of the individual horses, or look as needy as some of the old or very young. I am wondering if there is a way we can raise their profiles, before its too late. I am very close to offering one a home , but having already rescued a racehorse a few weeks ago and having 5 others(including 2 other rescues), but enough land ,it is a big decision from a financial point of view. However my daughter and I have decided to use the money we have been putting aside for a holiday one day to give one a home and now need to just raise the transport money. However I cannot choose between the horses (although we would probably go for a mare-but there are two)!!! I was thinking about putting pictures in the local tack shop tommorow - but time is running out fast! Would anyone know if these type of cobs would be eventually possible ok riding horses(just to describe them to others)? They look they would be the calm and gentle sort. I hope they wont get forgotten

Hi
I think it might just be coincidence, because there has been chestnuts and bays saved. Some of the breton ones seem to be the chestnut or bright bay colour. Ive only seen a few greys listed.
I would think the majority will be suitable as riding horses, I think they have been either bred for meat, or a breeder has too many and wants to get rid quick. They have not been abused as far as I am reading bewteen the lines on this forum, some are a bit shy.
Why don't you put a thread up and ask people for their comments, I bet a few people are thinking the same.

hi podkinpie you and your daughter are saints. why dint you send a pm to iwillbuy - she has rescued a very big boy and has had no problems so far. he seems to have settled really well and has a lovely nature. it seems all the horses we have rescued so far have great temperaments including mine, who i just adore. i know what you mean re picking one out, seems horrid to chose one over another i had to pick my boy as i had to have a gelding as have 3 others! good luck whatever you chose to do. if you want any further info please send me a pm and i will try and help or point you to someone who can. xx

Hi I've been to dept 86 and will be picking my mares up tomorrow. There are 2 English people going today to look and I'm desperate to get the injured one homed.I will know who,if anymore have gone by tonight.Time is running out though and the chap does want deposits of 100 euros to secure them, although as I'm already in contact with him and will be handing him a large stash of money on Saturday I could get a reserved put on any I suppose.PM me if anyone wants a deposit put down as we could give he a cheque to hold until Thursday if anyones got paypal. All these horses here have excellant natures and are very quiet.
