it is going to cost to keep la fun on simple systems for one month it is going to cost £60!!!!!!! so have decided as i think that is a hoooge amount of money, i will have him on it for a month and hopefully in that time he will have picked up somewhat and then I will probably have him on what I feed my 39 year old. Dengie hi fi senior and some simple systems. does that seem expensive to you??

I love simple systems but it does work out quite expensive - I also use top spec balancer so when I add that all up its quite alot!

If you are looking for a mollasses free alpha horsehage do a lovely one with soya oil - I just feed that with top spec balancer and some conditioning cubes and some fibre beet and mine thrive on it

depends what/how much of everything you have him on? I feed everything here on ss but also use dengie alfa and hifi lite because I prefer them to the ss alternatives.I must admit I never do what I'm told and have my own system for feeding ss,not theirs!!pm me what youre feeding if you like and I will tell you what I would do if youre interested.Sx

Blimey, I can't believe it will cost you £60 per month to feed one horse on SS Melissa! It doesn't cost me that for two in winter... It does go a long way when soaked etc.

I love SS and have posted a thread about it being available close to me , in Shropshire, but it is expensive, 25kg of sbeet pellets are £4.30 at our Ag suppliers but SS unmollased are , i think £6.70 and its only 20kg . I've worked out it willcost me approx £145 for winter feed [ SB and pony nuts} for my lot but with SS it'll be around £340!!!!!!!!!!!! its a great shame they can rduce their prices as its god stuff IMO also looked at their liming product, its twice the price of Calciprll so I wont be using theSS product, which is a shame as I would like to but its just too dear.

Sorry Melissa, should have clarified that my two ARE fed SS, and it doesn't cost me that for the two of them per month. I don't know if you've used SS feed before, but you soak most of their products and it makes up absolute trugfuls from a very modest amount of dry matter. So hopefully it won't be as bad as you think!
It is well well worth the money because of the integrity of the ingredients etc. They know every supplier personally and put a lot of hard work and love into their products.

sorry casper i read it wrong - yes i do use ss already for my old boy, not as much as he is alot smaller - i have worked out the cost of ss for la fun going by the amount of feed they recommended. i have ordered it already and will play it by ear........hopefully wont need the amount they say! i know it is great feed and would love to keep him on it....just depends how much it will cost. thanks.

It costs me about £60 a month on food, so seems about normal! Then again though, he weighs 700kg, and doesn't keep weight on well!
