Sorry to revive this, but time is ticking on and have just heard from CDA that many of these horses are still looking for a good home ....

Suer - have you tried contacting Sylvia Loch.. Sheila I believe trained with Lord Loch.. some of the Classical Riding Club members might be interested and Sylvia's website I believe has a horses for Sale section.. specifically Lusos.. otherwise it might be worth getting the others listed on the Project Horses Website.. If people could see which specific horses need homes it and their requirements / suitability / qualities / issues (if any) etc it might be easier for them to find homes.. there is also the for sale section on this board ... again listing the horses still available would help.

Sorry - can't get the pix to copy across ... can anyone help do that if I send them an e-mail???
Anyhow, here are the descriptions of the horses still needing homes:
Menina 16yrs - 1.67 - mare - £2500 Dark bay. Lovely schoolmistress, dressage. Needs a semi advanced rider, or to be ridden regularly by rider that can re-establish what she knows. Loves to be performing. Carriça 9yrs - 1.68 - mare - £2000 Grey. Strong and gentle mare. Lovely comfortable gates. Good hack, some dressage and jumping. Likes a rider that connects with her, and then she goes with whatever the rider asks her. Brito 8yrs - 1.55 - gelding(since we bought him) - £1750 Grey. Pocket size gentleman that loves to be fussed over. Lower price due to old scar on right hind. Never been lame on RH in the 14 months we have him. For a girl or not too heavy woman, not too novice, looking for the fairytale horse. Domino 9yrs - 1.57 - gelding - £2000 Dun. Beautiful typical Lusitano (with stunning offspring). Nice steady character with talent for hacking and dressage, loves attention. Has been suffering from sweet itch. Applications of Effol or Zedan and wearing a fly rug has allowed him to grow back his mane and tail. Galante 9yrs - 1.69 - gelding - £2600 Grey. Big boy with a love and talent for dressage. Can be naughty out hacking. Gentle character, eager to learn. Should do very well with regular schooling. Used mainly for classical dressage lessons while with us, although with right rider or as lead enjoys the trail riding. Possibly good jumper. Waiting to be loved and appreciated. Boemia 9yrs - 1.58 - mare - £1500 Grey. Sweet mare. Safe hack and talent for dressage. Gentle character, old fashioned Lusitano type. Could be a nice horse for a child. Willing and able, could develop dressage. Lower price due to injury to left eye. Fully treated with anti-biotics via lavage system. Some permanent damage to eye though, but not noticeable in her attitude or movement when riding in the school or outside. Alvito 9yrs - 1.57 - gelding - £1700 Grey. Lusitano cross. Very sturdy, forward going horse. Weight carrier. Loves the trails and has talent for dressage. Judging by his powerful hind and acceleration, probably a good jumper too. History not known, but had a tough life. Needs an understanding owner and he will be magic. Estrela 9yrs - 1.62 - mare - £1700 Bay. Origin not known, but looks 100% thoroughbred. Has been backed (again?) this year, and is enjoying rides out. Big stride, possibly a good horse for endurance riding. Will come on in dressage as well. Good natural outline and muscles up beautifully. Possibly a very fast, forward ride, for experienced riders. Endurance prospect Damastor 11yrs - 1.70 - gelding - £2400 Chestnut. Crusado Portugues, lots of Luso blood. A talented school horse for advanced riders. Loves hacking out, and is a true gentleman. 2005/2006 spent recovering from a moderate suspensory ligament injury. Made full recovery according to vet, ultra sound and performance. Nice trail horse for experienced riders. But not riding dressage with him would be a waste. Trovão 9yrs - 1.57 - gelding (since we bought him) - £1900 Chestnut. A favourite with many riders. Rides 'big', thinks he is huge. Probably a cross Lusitano 3/4 - Arab 1/4. Sturdy though, and a good weight carrier. We think he will be a good jumper too. Fiesta 9yrs - 1.57 - mare - £2200 Grey. Luso-Arab. Happy and fit Very nice forward going horse, and suitable for experienced riders. Steady still hand, don't constrain her too much, nor try to argue. You can't make her, only convince her... Nice little jumper too. Great ride for good rider child/teenager or light, smallish rider. Belle 10 yrs - 1.61 - mare - £1700 Bay. Cruzado Portugees with a very sweet character, eager to please her rider. She has had 2 foals before that we know of and apart from being a lovely hack for both beginners and experienced riders, she would make a lovely mare to breed with. Talisman 6yrs - 1.63 - gelding (since we bought him) - £2000 Bay. Stunning Lusitano looker, this boy was backed in 2006 then left again. Now happy, forward going horse with lots of potential. As just into work, would benefit from an experienced rider that can teach him further and enjoy the adventure together Caramelo 8yrs - 0.80 - gelding - £400 Palomino. Can be used as companion. Would like work and attention. Our little hero has had little kids riding him, but not properly schooled for while.
Transport costs: we should imagine that you're wondering how much it will cost to get your horse to you, should you make such a decision. Well, a basic vetting to make sure the horse is fit to travel and has all the necessary health checks for international transport will cost you about €100 or £68. For the transport itself, here a few examples:
UK -> Dover £700 Italy -> Naples - £600-£700 Holland -> Amsterdam - £650 France -> Paris - £600 Germany -> Hamburg - £750-£800, Munich - £600
This is with a reputable, English horse transporter, who transports horses all over the world every day, and takes good care of them during their journey.
If you have any questions, or would you like more information on any of these horses (or our business!), please e-mail or call us: info@cdaportugal.com / +351 283 998 106
